Taylor And Duff Nearer The Exit At Newcastle

It’s almost a certainty that Newcastle will lose more of their good players before August is out.

Steven Taylor – has he had enough of Ashley?

And it’s looking like Newcastle may be hard pressed to keep defender Steven Taylor, with Everton reportedly ready to poised to offer £8M for the 23 year-old player.

We don’t expect Steven to go but if he did, having just got too fed up with owner Mike Ashley’s antics, his exit at St James’s Park would be a major blow to Newcastle fans, not to mention we’d be in dire straights in the defense.

But it seems the only thing Ashley is worried about is offloading players for the transfer funds, and lowering the wage bill, which still needs to be done of course.

We do expect Newcastle to take Fulham’s £4M offer for Damien Duff, although it appears that Mick McCarthy at Wolves is also interested in taking his former Ireland player to the newly promoted club.

It seems that Everton are planning for things in the event of Joleon Lescott moving to Manchester City in a £20M deal, with Lescott already having had one formal written transfer request rejected by Everton.

If that deal goes through then Everton will be flush with money and mat be able to make an offer for Steven Taylor that Ashley cannot refuse.

Then what a mess we’d be in if we lost both Taylor and Duff.

How long will things get worse at Newcastle, before they start to get better – is a good question right now.

I just hope we can get a good and clever manager to manage the club and manage Mike Ashley if he is still incharge.

Hopfully he sells but who can he sell to ?

To a poorer owner? But with brains? Then we might as well copy wigan style.

With ll these sales our bank balance should be over flowing and our wage bill will be about 1% of turnover soon.

Surely this makes the club more attractive?

Off topic but i posted this on the previous thread.

Stardust’s post have lost all credibility when he said “you can never ever teach positional sense”, he clearly is an intelligent man, who knows his finances, but he aint got a clue about football!

I often think he doesn’t actually support MA as much as he makes out, i think he does it because he enjoys everyone getting mad and posting stuff back at him.

If he really thinks the fans are to blame for relegation then he is an idiot. The protests lasted 2 games max, the rest of the season the supporters were 100% focused on supporting the team, yes they moaned and groaned and criticized but NO MORE THAN ANY OTHER BUNCH OF SUPPORTERS.

The players are professional footballers and our players and players at other teams have stated they do not let what happens off the pitch effect them on the pitch.

Liverpool, Man U supporters have all had large protests, did that get them relegated? No, beacuse it’s complete rubbish to even think it.

There is always a mob element of fans at every club, but they do not cause relegation. The players got the club relegated because they were unsettled by different managers coming in, poor training, and of course some just couldn’t be bothered. The players are to blame for this 1st, then MA for poor descisions and not investing a small amount at a crucial time for transfers.

Every person involved professionally in the football world has said the fans are not to blame in the slightest and that the players and the owner are to blame, these are the people we should be listening to.

If Taylor goes, it will confirm our worst fears.

But I don’t think he will, for 3 reasons:

    1. I think even Ashley realises he’s a vital part of the team.

    2. I think even Ashley realises that there would be mass desertions

    3. His wage just isn’t that high, that that is what this is all about – NOT transfer fees.

Besides – Taylor has to agree too; he can’t be forced.

The reason the transfer fee is not that important is simple: it makes no real difference to the value of the club. Having a player worth £5m is the same in terms of company value as having £5m in the bank.

That’s also why Duff has to go – not because of a good offer, but because no CCC club can be paying players millions per year. I actually rate the guy, but I’d rather him replaced by two cheaper players because it’ll be injuries, not lack of ability, which will kill us.

    Fulham want Duff.
    Everton want S. Taylor.
    Arsenal want Krul.
    West Ham want Carroll.
    Hull want Nolan.

All Ashley sees is £ signs, not howit will affect the club, these players will be out before the window closes, probably more too!

    We will be left with…

    Harper
    R.Taylor – Kadar – Collo – Enrique?
    Nolan – Barton – Smith (c) – Jonas?
    Ameobi – Ranger?

    * ? = wanting to go or will be sold to the best bidder!

If it’s Fulham in for Duff, that should be more evidence of his value:

Roy Hodgson was absolutely brilliant with Fulham last season. They played really attractive football and climbed nicely up the table.
