Newcastle will lose more players this month before the transfer season finally ends.
Jonas Gutierrez – on his way to Portsmouth?
It’s just a question of how many more of the squad we will lose this month, but once Duff completes his move to Fulham in the next 48 hours, it looks like Argentine Jonas Gutierrez could be the next to leave.
Portsmouth owner Al Fahim has said his club are in talks with both Zaki and Newcastle’s Jonas Gutierrez.
Dubai businessman Al Fahim has yet to complete his long drawn out purchase of Pompey, but he has lined up some additions to Paul Hart’s squad.
Portsmouth were interested in Jonas 18 months ago when Harry redknapp was manager and almost signed him that January for £8M from Real Mallorca.
Al Fahim told Emirates Business 24/7
“We are in negotiations with Amr Zaki to bring him in on a loan deal with a view to a permanent transfer,” Al Fahim
“We are also speaking to Newcastle about the possibility of bringing Jonas Gutierrez to the club.”
We think Gutierrez is expendable and hthe Argentine wants to leave the club in any case.
Certainly he will never score many goals in his career, as even yesterday he was straight through on goal in the first half, and didn’t even shoot, his confidence was so low. He has yet to score a goal for Newcastle.
But if Jonas does leave, that means Newcastle will have lost both our wingers and it seems we need to sign full backs and wingers and then a center back and an experienced striker.
How many we’ll be able to sign is anybody’s guess right now, but the squad we have must stand a decent chance of promotion on evidence so far this season, but it’s still far too small.
Comments welcome.

Comment #1Every rumour involves players leaving – not one link to any one coming in. 14 days left of the window and a very thin squad. If the rumours are true we are set to loose Carrol, Colo, Guti, Krul, Taylor – another 5 !!!
Ashley is destroying thios club and it will take years to get back into the EPL

Comment #3That rag, the NOTW, is trying hard once again to create dispondency amongst us fans by unsubstantiated rumours about Krul and Steven Taylor leaving. OK, Gutierrez will go, Coloccini has to go but Carroll as well? We need by Wednesday to have Moat as owner or agreed owner. We then know, if that happens, that Shearer will be manager. I think we need to get Sol Campbell, and I would get Olivier Bernard back on a free from Toronto. Yes it is Sunday again so what is new about being lied to by the media? On Wednesday we need 3 points against Wednesday. In the meantime we also know that by then Ashley could have even further asset stripped NUFC.

Comment #7If Jonas goes to Portsmouth then he’ll be relegated twice in two seasons.
Does he really want that record?

Comment #8What we need is CREATIVITY – been lacking for years – since the likes of Emre, Dyer and co left – and I think one of the reasons we were relegated

Comment #9On nufc.com it says that Sol Campbell was in the Milburn Stand yesterday and he said a contract could be agreed in the next few days 🙂 Good signing if he comes in.

Comment #10I dunno if anyone else stayed past the final whistle yesterday but I did, and I reckon there is more than rumour to this Taylor bid by Everton.
Taylor was the last guy off the pitch, he took the time to come to each section of the crowd and applaud them before making his way down the tunnel, well after everyone else.
If that wasn’t a goodbye I’ll eat my hat.
Gutted.
But back on topic – To be honest I wouldn’t be fussed if Jonas went to Pompey. He can run, but has no end product at all, although he did have a couple of cracking shots yesterday. I think they could just give Lua Lua a go 🙂
Where did the good times go

Comment #11If we lost Colo and Jonas, i wouldnt be too bothered!
We MUST keep:

Comment #16Jonas will be a loss, even if his end product is not always great, he’s an entertaining player.
I doubt if he’s joining Pompey, a regular Argentina international will surely be interesting bigger clubs than the struggling Pompey.

Comment #17I agree Jan Stavik tho his end ball is poor he will terrorise defenses this year . My only concern ( other than his final ball ) is the way he was rolling around the pitch at west brom. Didnt like that at all

Comment #18if any of these players remaining do care about our club, their club, then for the love of god, just stay! you have contracts so you don’t need to go anywhere!
taylor krul and carroll need to stay.
i’d love to see the players, instead of jumping ship, to go and demand answers at board room level.
i feel we as geordies need to stop being pushovers and make our feelings known, either via protest or boycott, esp if wednesday does not materialise.
all this about supporting teh lads, ok, a bit blind loyalty there, we supported them through thick and mainly thin last season and they capitulated. so a stay away or some form of definitive action is necessary, coz at teh moment we’re just being strung along and taken for granted on someones nightmare ride.
