There are disturbing reports in the media tonight that Steven Taylor could be leaving Newcastle United, his home town team.
Steven Taylor – leaving Newcastle?
We do expect more players to leave Newcastle in the next two weeks so that the wage bill is further lowered to something the club can afford this season.
But surely there are some limits on who the club are willing to sell.
In the two games this season Steven has looked like a rock in defense, and his heart is at the club, well, we hope it is.
It could be Steven’s just fed up with Mike Ashley and his stupid antics of the summer, and for his own career he may now want to leave Tyneside.
He will have seen friend James Milner and England EU21 partner for a number of years, leave Newcastle a year ago, and now is in the full England squad and eventually made his debut last week in Holland for the full England side.
And it’s Everton that could be set to make a move for the Newcastle United defender, who has been a good story on Tyneside for a number of years. A local Geordie lad making it good at Newcastle, after being a ball boy during Kevin Keegan’s management during the 1990s.
The other thing that could have happened is that he has inside information about what’s about to happen at Newcastle, and we wouldn’t see Steven wanting to leave if Alan Shearer is appointed Newcastle manager. So maybe he knows Alan will not become the new manager on Tyneside.
The Daily Mail is reporting that the Toffees, who seem likely to lose Joleon Lescott to Manchester City after yesterday’s 6-1 home beating by Arsenal, are set to move for the 23 year-old.
There are even some reports that suggest Steven will make it formal by handing in a transfer request early in the week, and that will be greeted with sadness by most Newcastle supporters, who can see the squad falling to bits, as Ashley tries to sell anybody he can in the next two weeks.
If Steven goes then heaven help the squad we will end up with when September rolls around.
If Taylor goes, it will indeed be a sad day at the Newcastle United club, where we cannot even hold onto one of our own, who is Newcastle through and through, and was devastated by our relegation in May.
We hope these reports turn out to be untrue, or that Shearer is appointed manager this week, which will enable Steven Taylor to stay at his home town club.
But if Taylor goes it tells us even more clearly that Mike Ashley, who has acted with disdain and arrogance to both players and fans this summer, is not the person to be owning this club for too much longer.
This man must leave the Toon, sooner rather than later, before he is allowed to completely decimates our club.
Comments welcome.

Comment #41Steven Taylor as a pro footballer has to do whats right for his career and if he has to move to get a bigger wage and better contract then so be it.
Its a shame as his heart is in the club but as we have an owner who would sell his granny for gambling cash, he might be better off at another club.

Comment #42Taylor must not leave. How much influence has the lad’s dad got here? I remember before that he had too much to say about contracts. Ah well – another week of trepidation, frustration, watching that fat giant lemming Ashley rushing headlong for the abyss and dragging NUFC over the cliff with him. Come on Moat, buy the barbarian out, please, please.

Comment #44I seem to remember yonks ago, Taylor saying he’d never leave Newcastle as his family wouldn’t want anything to do with him and he didn’t want to end up being another Graham Fenton. I’d love him to stay, he is our only local hero right now.
For what its worth, it wasnt so much a lap, and he wasn’t crying, not from my front row East stand seat anyway. It was more of an applause around the ground, bear in mind he was wearing the captains armband at the time aswell!

Comment #45Its in the Sun and the Mail. Taylor to ask to go? Not exactly the most accurate or NUFC friendly rags. Odd is it not – Ashley selling Shearer’s keep list and holding on to the plonkers. The way Ashley is going the north east will soon be dubbed the skeleton coast. I am convinced this week is make or break – Ashley has burnt all the rooms now he is flogging the ashes.

Comment #46If the aims of Ashley’s selling players are to reduce the payroll by getting rid of the not-so-successful high earners and use the proceeds against the overdraft, then I can live with it to a degree.
But, I get the impression that Ashley’s willing to let anyone go and that does not auger well for the future.
Hughton’s reportedly been told that he’ll have to operate on what’s left after the fire-sale, the younger players and loanees, frees and cheapies.
There just does not seem to be any strategy to this cull of players and as far as Taylor’s concerned, I wouldn’t blame him if he were to want to leave. After all, he did utter a warning of that if things weren’t sorted soon and more tho the point has and like us all been treat with utter contempt by the owner and his lackeys.
The sonner Ashley goes the better as there’s not a cat in hell’s chance of anything ut failure this coming season…. and the next… and the………

Comment #49I just get the feeling that he always wanted a championship side, all of a sudden more sensible moves seem to be considered, providing the likes of Lovenkrands, Campbell and some others are signed.
Oba was sold because I do not think he wants a premiership side, Taylor and Krul will be sold because they are premiership class, pointless in a club which wants to be profitable but 5th or 6th in the championship.
I still get the feeling that he is taking the club where he wants it, all the moves until now have been suicide ones.
A championship club with a JJb sports shop under it and possibly a casino in it.
But he looks like he doesnt want to drop out of the championship IF these, and other, players are signed.

Comment #59right here is what i have heard….
my uncle rang me this morning at 8.30, he had been told last night that the club will indeed be sold by today, with two deals both in the final stages, one is a consortium, the other is a single handed bloke with great financial clout, one is english and one is foreign possibly german, dutch, swiss or austrian. Both will therefore appoint shearer as manager, with the english consortium wanting to go all english with player recruitment, staff recruitment, so on and so on.
Where as the foreign consortium want shearer as manager and an old footballing legend from a foreign country taking over the day today running of the club much lik quinn is with the scum. both will give significant sums of money, all the money from transfers will be going to the club, to balance the books and make signifcant room to play in the transfer department, mike ashley (as much as i hate him) has pumped the sales of players into the club, including milner, insomnia, given and all this summers transfers making the club a much brighter prospect for these buyers. All this sounds good untill i tell you the english consortium plan to give ashley a 20% stake in the club for future investment.
Dont believe the papers with the kinnear story its a load of tosh, llambias was the one pushing for jfk, not fat mike.
Dont hang all your hope on all this happening, but its just what i have been told, and this is info from a man close to the deal. im just praying some of it is true

Comment #61That’s 3 different people then hearing rumours that the club will be sold today, could this be the day that we’ve all been waiting for all summer, i’m hoping so but i’m not holding my breath as we’ve all been here before with the ‘todays the day’ feelings
