Increased Interest In Newcastle’s Coloccini

With the news that Sol Campbell will sign this week on a free transfer at Newcastle we think Fabricio Coloccini is even more expendable, as long as Shearer becomes the new manager.

Fabricio Coloccini – will be on his way before August is out

If Barry  Moat doesn’t get the loan from Barclay’s Bank this week, then it looks like Steven Taylor will not hang around, and unless we can bring in Mike Williamson (Watford) and Andy O’Brien (Bolton) for our central defense, we may even have to keep the Argentine.

But on second thoughts, not on his wages, which are huge and over £60K/week.

Fabricio Coloccini has been linked with a potential transfer to Palermo, after being linked yesterday with Turkish side Galatasaray.

The Sicily club is looking for a center-back replacement after Moris Carrozzieri was banned after testing positive for using cocaine.

According the web site Tuttomercatoweb, Newcastle may offer Coloccini at a cut price from the £10M we paid Deportivo for him last summer.

Palermo could get the Argentine for half that price, and given Coloccini also holds Italian citizenship, he wouldn’t take one of the non-EU slots, which is an advantage to Palermo.

As well as reports yesterday that Galatasaray were interested in the player, reports in Spain suggest La Liga side Real Zaragoza are also interested in Fabricio.

But we fully expect to see Coloccini unloaded before August is out.

Comments welcome.

I did wonder why FFS has’nt been sniffing around if the rumours that Moat needed more money.

Before Ashley bought the club the Sheppards and halls had shares. Unless you’re very very rich ala Man city and chelsea the ownership of a club is usually made up of more that one shareholder

gg- anything in the world that hasn;t already happened can happen today at the earliest, in other words your a muppet.

Sell colo, get campbell to help taylor, say no to sheperd would be nice, oh and maot aswell becuase he doesn’t have the cash we need for players let alone the cash to buy the bloody club…but as usual the club will be ran like the worst business in history and we’ll still tune in and turn up in record numbers becuase loyalty is one thing you can rely on in tyneside which is why it will always line the pockets of the greedy and stupid.

we should keep Taylor because if we do win promotion this season we’ll be buying the likes of him back nxt yr. so why sell. fair enuff Colo. I’d be well happy with Campbell, OBrien, Kadar and Taylor as our main centre halves. that should be enough for the Cola league.

I think we’ll be sold this week and if we do I think we’ll be in for an exciting season, goals goals goals, given we buy and not just sell..

We’ll need to start buying if we let so many 1st team players go. Coloccini never impressed me much since arriving, I’d let him go if the money were to be spent on a replacement.

And the talk about signing players like Andy O’Brien is nonsense, we were pleased to see him go 3-4 years ago! No need to bring in players of that mould, then it’s better to play Kadar and Tozer.

no to sheps and Moat?? so it Ashley for the nxt year then as its pretty obvious that no-one else is sniffing around. I’d be happy with Moat. He must have a fair idea to whats he’s doing, I’m sure his US backers will provide cash. hes not going to buy just to get rid of Ashley.

isnt tozer a left back? I loved Obriens attitude, he had the winning mentality of Tony Adams with the physical presence of barry chuckle. but yeah we were please to see him go, in the premier league. he’s vastly experienced and would do really well in this league without being on a long contract, just like Campbell

i think solly would be a fantastic signing for the toon but only if its to help S.T become a better player and not as a replacement soll was one of the best defenders in the world on his day , yep he dropped the odd clanger here and there , but who dosnt a few years with solly and tay will make what everybody thinks , a great england captain

What needs to happen is a balance between the players we are selling to the players we’re signing, we have a small enough squad as it is and it will be even smaller when Duff leaves for Fulham and we simply can’t afford to let Tayls leave. Sol should be signed to help Tayls and replace Colo the twat. Don’t think Kadar is ready to be a starting Centre Half but could be a useful substitute and in cup games. Bring in Skjelbred he is itching for the chance to play for Newcastle and would probably even play for smallish wages (in comparison to the likes of Duff and Colo) because he loves Newcastle as much as we do.

The thing is Colo is a good footballer but not a defender. He is composed, sometimes too much on the ball, and can be quite useful but his decision making is so poor.

If he was a 21 year old coming through, then i would be saying keep him and teach him the art of defending because there is potential, but for some reason he always wants to win every ball and just gets turned over and over again. But he is a 10million 50k a week player and should go now as he is not good enough.
