With the news that Sol Campbell will sign this week on a free transfer at Newcastle we think Fabricio Coloccini is even more expendable, as long as Shearer becomes the new manager.
Fabricio Coloccini – will be on his way before August is out
If Barry Moat doesn’t get the loan from Barclay’s Bank this week, then it looks like Steven Taylor will not hang around, and unless we can bring in Mike Williamson (Watford) and Andy O’Brien (Bolton) for our central defense, we may even have to keep the Argentine.
But on second thoughts, not on his wages, which are huge and over £60K/week.
Fabricio Coloccini has been linked with a potential transfer to Palermo, after being linked yesterday with Turkish side Galatasaray.
The Sicily club is looking for a center-back replacement after Moris Carrozzieri was banned after testing positive for using cocaine.
According the web site Tuttomercatoweb, Newcastle may offer Coloccini at a cut price from the £10M we paid Deportivo for him last summer.
Palermo could get the Argentine for half that price, and given Coloccini also holds Italian citizenship, he wouldn’t take one of the non-EU slots, which is an advantage to Palermo.
As well as reports yesterday that Galatasaray were interested in the player, reports in Spain suggest La Liga side Real Zaragoza are also interested in Fabricio.
But we fully expect to see Coloccini unloaded before August is out.
