Sol Campbell Wants To Sign For Newcastle

Sol Campbell told corporate guests in the Director’s box at Newcastle United’s home game with Reading on Saturday, that he would love to sign for Newcastle United.

Sol Campbell – would love to sign for Newcastle

The Evening Chronicle is reporting today Newcastle are interested in signing the free agent, and he will hold talks today on a potential move to St James’s.

As we mentioned yesterday the player is engaged to Geordie Fiona Barrett, and they have bought Hallington Hall in Northumberland.

So a move to Newcastle would make a lot of sense for the former Spurs, Arsenal and England great.

Campbell said today:

“I would love to sign here if it’s possible.” “But we’ll have to wait and see.”

Campbell’s wages would be high, but not something that Newcastle couldn’t afford, once we unload more of our high wage earners currently at the club.

Sol would strengthen the Newcastle defense, and he could help us to get back to the Premier League at the first attempt, and in our opinion he’d be worth the money.

As we detailed yesterday the wage bill has been trimmed already from £74M to £48M, assuming Duff moves to Fulham.

Apparently Hull City are also in the hunt for Campbell, but we wouldn’t think they could afford the wages of Sol, and we think Sol will plump for Newcastle as his first choice.

Of course we’re also biased. 😀

Sol also has that winning mentality, that would rub off on the other players and he would be a help to our defenders as he will be able to manage the defense.

So we think this would be a great deal for Newcastle and we hope we can pull it off.

Comments welcome.

Only if we get rid of Colo and not Tayls!! Suppose MAs thinking is that we have Kadar ready and waiting and Campbell would drag him along! I was always quite pro youngsters however Reading showed why its not always possible, when its good its great but when it starts going bad its a nightmare, we bullied em off the pitch! If MA is staying he has got to watch how many first teamers we are actually selling cos we are losing a lot of experience!

Sol has been in rapid decline in the last 2 years.
There is a reason why he is a free agent. These days he is very injury prone. Added to huge wages, I just can’t see the point. Why get rid of Colo and then immediately offer another aging, injury prone, has been whose best days have long since sailed, the same huge wages!!!!

If Hull, a premiership team can’t afford his wages, then why are we even considering it.

    Now Skjelbred would be great.

I am warming to Hughton too and would be happy for things to stay just as they are and have a bit of stability for once. Hughton is a low profile guy, without Shearer’s ego and Kinnear’s general crap.

Incidentally GG, don’t look now but you are getting hammered on http://www.tottfanzine.co.uk

Sol would be great for us in the CCC more than enough experiance for any forward in the fizz, Taylor and the likes could learn from him and he could stay on as a coach.

I would pull out the stops to offer Sol a one year deal, with an option of a second. It’s looking likely that Tayls is away, and Campbell, although ageing, isn’t past it yet, and he could be just what we need to organise a very shifty, and inexperienced defence.

I’d offer him a pay as you play deal. We’ve been stung by these sorts of players before. Wouldn’t pay him more than 25-30k a week in total.

Get skeljbred in he’s been sounding us out for a move for the last two windows! I’d personally keep collo too, as we’d lose far too much if we sold him now.

Get rid of geremi and butt…another 6 mil a year saved in wages.

solly would be a fantastic signing for the toon but only if it to help S.T become a better player , and not as a replacement . a few years ago sol was one of the best defenders in the world on his day,ok he dropped a few clangers here and there ,but who dosnt, give tay a couple of years with solly , then no doubt he will make a great captain ,not just for nufc ,but for england . i just pray ash resists the temptaiton to cash in on one of the best up and coming defenders in the country . i am not too sure though

Sol always signs on free transfers – he’s never cost any club a penny in transfer fees as he always lets his contract run out. That way he gets a signing on fee.

people have honestly not got a clue about football if they think that campbell would not be a great an absolute great signing. OMG he would be amazing with taylor and he is not going anywhere so that rumour whould be squashed immediatley.

Toon are making great moves… all we need now is a few more loan signings

Hi – late to this – sorry. I agree he could be a good signing – especially if Taylor stays and Colo goes.
Just a bit worried about Campbell though – is his “girlfriend” really called Geordie Fiona? Any rumours?

Sol would be a fantastic signing, don’t think his wages would be too extravagant saying that he is past his best and his experience at the top level is just what we need. Far better than that spaghetti haired fuck face Coloccini! Also, we need Geordie men bringing the club forward, Skjelbred is a Geordie fan and would do anything for the club heis quoted as saying :”If I get the chance to play for Newcastle, I’ll have a perfect career” get on your bikes and make it happen!
