Sol Campbell told corporate guests in the Director’s box at Newcastle United’s home game with Reading on Saturday, that he would love to sign for Newcastle United.
Sol Campbell – would love to sign for Newcastle
The Evening Chronicle is reporting today Newcastle are interested in signing the free agent, and he will hold talks today on a potential move to St James’s.
As we mentioned yesterday the player is engaged to Geordie Fiona Barrett, and they have bought Hallington Hall in Northumberland.
So a move to Newcastle would make a lot of sense for the former Spurs, Arsenal and England great.
Campbell said today:
“I would love to sign here if it’s possible.” “But we’ll have to wait and see.”
Campbell’s wages would be high, but not something that Newcastle couldn’t afford, once we unload more of our high wage earners currently at the club.

Sol would strengthen the Newcastle defense, and he could help us to get back to the Premier League at the first attempt, and in our opinion he’d be worth the money.
As we detailed yesterday the wage bill has been trimmed already from £74M to £48M, assuming Duff moves to Fulham.
Apparently Hull City are also in the hunt for Campbell, but we wouldn’t think they could afford the wages of Sol, and we think Sol will plump for Newcastle as his first choice.
Of course we’re also biased. 😀
Sol also has that winning mentality, that would rub off on the other players and he would be a help to our defenders as he will be able to manage the defense.
So we think this would be a great deal for Newcastle and we hope we can pull it off.
