Steven Taylor Will Not Request Transfer From Newcastle

Good news this morning that Steven Taylor will not be asking for a transfer from Newcastle United.

Steven Taylor – will not ask for a transfer

The defender is interesting Everton and because he appeared emotional as he left the field at the end of Saturday’s 3-0 win over Reading, there was news yesterday that he may be leaving Newcastle.

But Steven is willing to wait on developments off the field, with Tyneside businessman Barry Moat still in the running to take over the stricken club, and he is said to be meeting with Barclays Bank today.

And of course if he is successful Alan Shearer will become manager and Steven will not want to go anywhere.

Everton are reported to have asked about Taylor last week, with David Moyes ready to bid decent money for the player should he lose Joleon Lescott to Manchester City.

But if Steven is put up for sale watch for other big clubs to come in and try to get the very promising 23 year-old.

Caretaker boss Chris Hughton has today played down the rumors of Steven wanting to leave,  as he told the Evening Chronicle today:

“If there’s interest (in Taylor), then I’m certainly not aware of it.”

If Mike Ashley remains in place at Newcastle,  it wouldn’t surprise us if Steven moves from Newcastle before the end of the month, because he thinks the only solution it to bring Alan Shearer back as manager.

So do we.

Positive, but I’ll wait and see – celebrating the win on saturday still felt a bit strange, I was just waiting for something to go wrong…

Anyway, couple of questions a bit off topic:

    1) Was that Hughton’s first win as caretaker?

    2) What is the magic points total to aim for to stay up in the Championship? i.e. The Prem is 40…

We need to keep S.Taylor, without a doubt, I know he is vulnerable to odd howler (handball ref?) but he is an excellent grafter, and when Colo the clown got turned off the ball twice on Sat Taylor was there to mop up the mess both times. Nice one Stevie T.

Billy Bunter – Steven Taylor was born in Greenwich of Geordie parents and moved up here as a baby. There’s a lot wandering around Newcastle with Geordie accents whose parents were born nowhere near Tyneside. This is not the place to split such hairs at present – after all was Wor Bobby a Geordie or a Durham man? And as for another Tyneside hero – Milburn was born in Ashington and thus a Northumbrian, and MacDonald was a Londoner!

Tayls is no longer “promising” – he’s been delivering the goods with the best of them for a while now.

He was still pretty shaky for half of last season, but someone did something which clicked with him and I can’t remember the last time he dropped a proper howler.

Also, he was carrying even Bassong for the last few matches and has been there to save us from the mistakes of others more than any other player recently.

If Tayls goes, I will really fear for the club – things would have to look pretty black to him before he’d think of leaving SJP.

Steven Taylor won’t hand in a transfer request? wow! Is it because he loves the club? NO! Is it because he will lose his ‘loyalty bonus’? YES!

How do you know that Taylor won’t hand in a transfer request. I can see the quote about knowing nothing from Hughton but can’t see anything from Taylor. Is this just reading between the lines or a direct quote from him?

Personally, his “goodbye” at the end of Saturday’s game stank of a final farewell to me. 🙁

Don’t worry Billy Bunter. I have a job too and should have retired in July. Have got to carry on cos I cannot afford to go. Can manage a few beers too sometimes – but cringe when overpaid plonkers take the piss out of us and our team. Howay the lads. And – bye bye fat Ashley soon I hope.
