With the mess at the club it may surprise some Newcastle fans that players still jump at the chance to come to Tyneside.
Danny Simpson – delighted to come to Newcatsle
Manchester United right-back Danny Simpson has revealed today that it took him only seconds to say yes when Newcastle United came calling with a loan move.
The Manchester United player as it turns out has been a close friend of Newcastle’s anny Guthrie since they were 12, and the ratheruick right-back, who is good at both attacking and defending, has joined Newcastle on loan through January.
The 22-year-old said that after a quick phone call with friend Danny Guthrie, that he just jumped at the chance to gain some good experience at a club like Newcastle.
Danny told Newcastle United TV today:
“It didn’t take long to be honest when I got the offer,” “It’s a massive club. I rang Danny Guthrie, who I’ve known since I was 12, and I couldn’t wait to get up here.”
“It will be an invaluable experience and you learn so much when you go to different clubs.”
“I’ve only trained here once but already I can see the quality and I’m looking forward to getting involved.”
“With everything that has been going on behind the scenes, it was important that the lads got a good solid performance against Reading and that’s exactly what they managed to do.”
“In training (on Monday) the lads went straight into it and you can tell that all they wanted to do was play football.”
“I’m just as focused now myself. I can’t wait to get going. I just want to get out there at St James’ Park.”
“I’m hopeful I will play on Wednesday (against Sheff Wed), but Saturday was a great win. I want to get settled here as quickly as I can.”
Danny seems a smashing lad, and we’re pleased to have him at the club, and whenever we’ve seen him play he’s looked a class act.
Danny will probably become the regular right back, and Ryan Taylor can be used elsewhere, although we think Ryan will want to keep the right back position for his own.
But competition in football never hurt anyone.
And Chris Hughton seems pleased to have Danny in his squad:
“Danny Simpson is the ideal loan signing for us and will bolster our squad,” “He’s a player that has had a very good footballing background at Manchester United.”
“He’s been out on loan a few times already and is aware of what it takes.” “He played against us up here last year (for Blackburn) and impressed in that game.”
“He’s a valuable addition and is a young player who will be hoping to do well.”
There’s no doubt Danny is a good loan signing for the club.
