Barry Moat In New Offer For Newcastle United Club

Newcastle United Managing Director Derek Llambias has told Sky Sports News today that Barry Moat has stepped up his interest in his home town club.

Ashley, Moat and LLambias on Saturday

The local Newcastle businessman has been strongly linked with an approach for Newcastle United, but has yet to officially confirm his interest.

It is now understood that the self-made millionaire has officially opened talks with the current owner Mike Ashley, in a possible £100M purchase of the club.

There was news in the Telegraph this morning suggesting that his loan application with Barclays Bank has indeed been approved, but that his offer was lower than the £100M requested by Ashley, and thought to be closer to around £70m – £80M.

Moat sat alongside Ashley during Newcastle’s easy 3-0 victory over Reading on Saturday, and certainly has the backing of the club’s fans. Moat is a fan himself, of course.

And just after noon today Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley arrived in his private helicopter at the club’s training ground for talks with Moat.

With some of the Newcastle squad still on the training pitch preparing for tomorrow’s game with Sheffield Wednesday, Ashley and Derek Llambias left the helicopter and walked towards the offices at the Newcastle Darsley Park complex for discussions with some of the senior players.

So we expect some official announcement fairly soon.

Should Barry take control at St James’ Park, which we are hoping for, his first move will be to appoint Alan Shearer as the new Newcastle manager on a full-time basis.

That move alone will lift the spirits of Newcastle fans everywhere, and we have to hope we’ll hear something official, even today.

Here’s hoping. 😀

Oh, and a win tomorrow night against Sheffield Wednesday will also help to lift the Newcastle fans’ spirits too!

Howay The Lads!!

    In that photo –

Ashley to Lamearse – “Hey Derek, it looks like that Moat fella has fallen for it and we’ve managed to sucker him into pay more than he should be for the club.”

Lamearse – “He’s sitting right next to you d1ck head”

Seriously though, I’m not getting carried away here, even if Moat does take over. Remember last time we were “saved” by a millionaire businessman from a crook that we’d had enough of?

David Craig reporting that if Moat does take over then its almost certain Shearer will be manager, but he also claims two other groups are in discussions.

The fact that he’s not the only guy in talks with the club means that it will take that little while longer,
But who are the other consortia?

Is that the 2 groups that knobin claimed had lodged £100 million + bids back in July?? It’s a scam man designed to squeeze as much out of Moat as possible.

In business there’s no such thing as an honest deal

God knows whats going on like, so many different stories from different places. SSN apparently claiming we’re in advanced stages, yet yesterday on Talksport, Micky Quinn had an interesting little story like.

Claimed when the goal went in and Ashley was shaking hands, Moat extended his hand to Ashley and he ignored it. Moat then jokingly blew him a kiss and Ashley ignored him again, on the third time of trying by Moat to shake Ashleys hand, Fat Mike apparently just pushed his hand away. God knows whats going on, all in jest i’m hoping!? (Should it even be true, but its a bit of a ridiculously elabourate lie to make up should it not be?)

Two more parties interested in buying the TOON i just wish we knew who they were. Maybe a Russian billionaire or a middle eastern oil tycoon haha maybe not but anybody would make me happy just to get rid of Mr Cashley and Llambias. The annoying thing about it all is the fact that Ashley is worth more than Moat yet Moat seems more willing to get this club back on the straight and narrow by bringing in Shearer and hopefully keeping Steven Taylor as he is the backbone on the team and future club and country captain IMO.

This might sound a stupid question, but if he has the money and has backing in the US why does he need a loan from Barclays?
Isn’t that just putting us in debt from the off?

I too cannot beleive there is anyone else interested except Moat, the fact the sale has dragged on so long is an indication that interest for the club is not forthcomming, profitable group drppoed out also over the price so Ash knows he isn’t gonna find it easy to shift the club, hense the extentions and negotiations with Moat…

Ashley doesn’t wanna bring in any manager at this point & he does right!..
…He tried the ‘messianic’ route & it failed or was let down by kk, take ya’ pick!..

…He’s off & doesn’t want to make that decision, & neither should he!..

If moat has the banks backing then it will happen soon or not at all as Ashley apparently wants 100million so there is no real extensive negioations needed. Surely after all this time they have something sorted out for when the banks say yes?

If by the end of the week no new news…bye bye shearer, hello kinnear.

Ross – maybe Ashley knew that a handshake between the two would be caught on snapped and plastered over the back pages, raising false hopes when he hasnt got the money yet.

The one who blew the kiss as I saw on TV was Llambias. He got left hanging by Ashley at the full time whistle – then Ashley’s wife started laughing at the pathetic little cretin – so he blew her a kiss – he then went to shake Ashley’s hand again and got a ‘lukewarm’ reception.

I watched the match in the pub like but it was all in Italian and i didnt see much of Moat/Ashley/Llambiarse so i was a bit shocked when my old man gave me that story like, should have known better than to pay attention to the media! i dont normally but like i said, what a strange lie, haha. Looks like they’ve just got their wires crossed!

i suspect they havn’t got anything else better to talk about so they made something up about newcastle, i suppose we should be used to it by now, i see cashley has now left the training ground only about 20mins after arriving, hopefully he just needed to sign on the dotted line, seems a long way to come just for 20mins if it was just something on the lines of oh your still interested my price is £100 mill take it or leave it??

Think about things guys and gals….. Ashley still insisting on £100m + 2 more bidders + Moat = An Ashley/ Moat deal’ll be struck @£100 and Ashley will have been seen to have done it with Moat, as a local lad, kicking the two other supposed bids into touch.

Does Ashley lose any face? No.
