Time For Ashley To Make Decision And Stop This Nonsense

The players have done us proud so far in the Championship with 7 points out of a possible 9 and joint top of the Championship.

Mike Ashley – it’s make up your mind time

It’s now time for the Newcastle Board and owner Mike Ashley in particular to make Newcastle a stable club, so we can mount a challenge for promotion this season.

We need the ownership decided one way or the other before Saturday and a full time manager appointed immediately.

If the new owner cannot afford the wage bill which at the moment is still a high £48M a year, then the club needs to identify those players we want to transfer out, and bring in suitable replacements.

And we now have to do that in a short 11 days, given how Ashley has dithered away the summer.

But we cannot allow the stupidity that went on behind the scenes last season and this summer continue any longer, and we have to give the players every chance to get us back into the Premier League.

It seems the lads are showing a lot more fight and spirit than they displayed last season, and the Newcastle fans have averaged over 40,000 in our first two home games, so they are ready for the fight too.

But we always knew the Geordie fans would be ready.

Mike Ashley needs to sort out what he is going to do, and not let this thing drag on any longer.

It’s already been 12 weeks where the club has had no leadership, and it’s a good job for the club that Chris Hughton and Colin Calderwood and our other coaches, have done such a sterling job this summer under difficult circumstances – with the players’ support.

Ashley has hardly made it easy for anybody for the last 12 months at the Newcastle club.

But Mike, this nonsense has to end – now.

Ed, how many times have you posted this kind of article in last six weeks. It will happen.

Regardless of owner, I would love it if either Shearer or Steve Coppell was appointed, keeping Chris Hughton on staff.

We should not get carried away with ourselves with encouraging results so far – there is a long hard winter slog ahead.

Looking forward to getting three points in Ipswich though.

It seems like Ashley wants it sorted one way or another, but doesnt way too say “thats its deals off” when it could only be a few days away from completion, thats why supposed deadlines come and go.

This is only honeymoon period as far as I’m concerned. We had luck tonight with Steve Harper in great form.

Things will get A LOT harder than this, but hopefully, with a new owner the transition won’t be as rough.

If we had a new owner at the beginning of the season with shearer in charge i would be thinking what Doocey said…Hooneymoon period. But off the field it couldnt really be much worse and yet the players are stepping up.

I know its only 3 games but stability is yet to come and we are winning, so i think that we will secure at least 2nd this season, maybe challenging for 1st if shearer comes in and turns out to be one hell of a manager. With that said however theres still 2 weeks left of the transfer window and players are likely to leave than come with the state of the club at the moment.

True but tougher games to come. I don’t expect to get anything from Crystal Palace or Cardiff. Maybe 2 points if all goes our way.
Maybe I’m being pessimistic but that’s the way I see it.
Mind you, I’m a optimist by trade 😀

I had to give my season ticket up the season before last, purely because of financial reasons, i think quite a few are in the same boat, then there is fans who won’t go because of Ashley. So i don’t think there are too many fairweather fans.

I am starting to worry if we don’t get sold that Mike Ashley is thinking that because we are winning that he can sell more players, because he is that stupid. We can not sell anymore its as simple as that. We need to add a bit steel and keep winning and it will all become a promotion push. I feel even with what we have left that if we get beat heads will go down again and we will be looking at mid-table at the very best. Mike piss off and let us get on with bringing this club back to where it belongs.

If we go up it wont be because of beating people like Cardiff, its the likes of Sheff Wed, Blackpool, Doncaster that we will need to get those 1-0s against. The only problem with the good start is that how difficult the championship can be may get lost with some of the players (the foriegn imports like Enrique and Jonas) and may become complacent.

Doocey, with what has happened in the last few years i think its made us all alot more pessimistic. Im just happy/suprised we are winning again so cant help but look on the bright side :D.

Watch this space…… It looks as though Moat has not got the funds and here is the alternative!!! Ashley is considering appointing Moat as Chairman and staying. Shearer WILL NOT be manager if Ashley is still in charge and the name I’m hearing is David Jones from Cardiff. Hope its a load of b0llocks but my source is usuaully quite good.

    Rangerman,

Presumably on holidays, dodging the rain showers in Blackpool and the gales on the Isle of man.

Don’t be so quick to judge.

Managed to make the match tonight, after being at work for the reading game.

Colo was crap, and the midfield looked static at the best of times. I think we were lucky.

You don’t have to put yourself in Ashley’s position and keep covering all the sky high wages
while still keeping the club as a going concern.
Sure Ashley has made mistakes and admitted as much and his lack of communication with the fans is dispicable, but selling some players and getting rid of their crippling salaries and bringing through the youngsters may be the only way to keep afloat at the moment.

    Evil eye,

I would be quite happy with Moat as chairman, as Moat is obviously struggling for resources and funding. Wasn’t this an idea that was mooted a long time ago. I can’t remember if it was Moat or another local businessman who put forward the idea to come on the board as chairman and an investor alongside Ashley. I’m not sure how much Moat knows about football, but it has to be more than Ashley though.

I’m not overly upset if Shearer isn’t manager though, as Hughton is doing a decent job and if it’s Dave Jones I’m fine with that too. Lots of experience and plays decent football. Coppell is a long ball manager who has had as many downs as ups.
