As far as we are concerned some bad news tonight related to Steven Taylor.
Steven Taylor – could be on his way
The news is that Everton are in negotiations with Newcastle over the transfer of their local Geordie defender, Steven Taylor.
This is being reported by Sky Sports news and we have no reason to believe the news is not true.
But the last thing we want to see is a young player, who moved to the Newcastle area when two weeks old, and has captained the England U21 side regularly, leave the club.
It looks like Everton will finally sell Jolean Lescott to money-bags Manchester City, and we have to think Steven sees his international career and future in general at a more stable club and one challenging for honors.
After all for the last 12 months, the Newcastle club has been a joke under the ownership of Mike Ashley.
There were a number of scouts at the St. James’ Park on Wednesday night to see the Magpies beat the Owls 1-0, and Steven had a strong game, as usual.
We really hope we can keep Steven at the club, but we think once an announcement comes that Mike Ashley will keep the club, which could happen as early as tomorrow, we think Steven will want out.
That’s unlike what happened with long term goalkeeper Shay Given, who asked for a transfer one day after Mike Ashley announced, on December 28th last year, he was keeping the club.
That as not a coincidence.
There could also be other players, like Nicky Butt, who may elect to move before the end of the month, if that announcement is made.
They’ve just had enough of the Newcastle owner – but there again – so have we.

and still 40,ooo will pile in giving Cashley even more money. We have a huge amount of money from the sale of players – yet it isnt going back into the team or the overdraft !
The good start to the season is ironically the worse thing that could have happend – Ashley can now sit out the rest of the season with 45M from sales (Duff, Milner, Zog, Martins et al) 13M from Sky and probably 25M from gate reciepts/tickets – if promotion comes, price goes up – if not he can sell try again next year

Looks like it might be inevitable that Taylor will leave.
However, if Everton are getting 23mil for Lescott from Man City we should be looking for at least 10mil if not 12mil for Taylor. He has Premiership experience and Lescott is definately not twice the player Taylor is.
Ashley will probably settle for 6mil though!!!!
