Danny Guthrie In For Injured Andy Carroll

Crystal Palace .svgnufc-crest

Newcastle make just one change from the side which beat Sheffield Wednesday during the week with Danny Guthrie replacing the injured Andy Carroll.

That means Newcastle could well revert to playing five across midfield and leave man in form, Shola Ameobi up front.

Shola Ameobi will be up front supported perhaps by Kevin Nolan supporting, while Guthrie, making his first start of the season, is joined in midfield by skipper Alan Smith, Jonas Gutierrez and Ryan Taylor.

No change in defense with Steven Taylor playing, so that hopefully means a transfer is not imminent.

The defense is unchanged with Steve Harper, Danny Simpson, Jose Enrique, Steven Taylor and Fabricio Coloccini.

Nicky Butt returns to the bench after hand surgery, and will likely participate in the second half.

Teenagers Ranger, Kadar and LuaLua are all on the bench.

Howay The Lads!!

take it we’re going to 4-5-1 then?..bit of a shame Carroll is out, he’s worked hard past few weeks like. Maybe we’ll see a bit more of Ranger if things arent going as planned.

Someone posted the bbc radio newcastle link from a different site the other day that worked all throughout the UK yet i stupidly forgot to bookmark it. Does anyone have the link?

Real Radio, 101.8 fm with Bobby Moncur.

It is a shame Carroll’s out as he has been really good the 3 games we’ve played. Like also said, it might give Ranger a chance for some more playing time depending on how the game is going I suppose.

Good to see Guthrie back though.

WTF Strolla upfront by himself !! He is crap at holding uo the ball. No pace, a few lucky goals , doesnt exactly put himself out.

Would prefer Xisco & Ranger upfront

looks like a decent team. glad guthrie has been picked ahead of stinky butt. would have liked to see ranger get a start but we can always bring him on for one of the centre mids if we are looking for a goal in the second half. come on lads!!!

    HOWAY THE TOON!

Yet again the management showing NO BALLS to blood youth…palace will have the whippet Sears upfront whilst our quickest striker sits on the bench-what a waste 🙁
For me, Ranger showed on wed he can win the ball, hold the ball & pass to one of our own…what more do we want.
    Just PLAY the lad please…..
