Robert Earnshaw – Newcastle interested?

The 28 year-old Zambian-born Welsh International (46 caps, 14 goals), has been linked with a potential move to Championship powerhouse side, Newcastle United. today.

The player was also linked recently with Championship leaders Middlesbrough, but the Sunday press today are reporting they think Newcastle United will make a £3M move for his services next week.

We didn’t think we had £3M to spare given all the stuff being reported on our overdraft and all kinds of financial stuff related to the potential sale of the club to Barry Moat.

But if this story is true, and we have to remember it’s Sunday again, that would indicate Newcastle have lined up some new players and at least have a little transfer money available.

We do expect at least a couple of new loan signings before the window closes on September 1st, at 5:00 pm Newcastle time.

Earnshaw has played around 326 first class games with 140 goals in his 12 year career, starting at Cardiff in 1997, where he scored 86 goals in 178 appearances for the Welsh side over 7 years.

Comments welcome.

Madness! This guy isn’t even CCC standard. We should now be building for the Prem not contemplating another year in the doldrums. Even at £300K it would be waste of a shirt. GET A GRIP, PLEASE. We’ve given better players away.
