Hughton Praises Subs – Nolan Could Be On His Way

Chis Hughton has said it was the experience and quality of the Newcastle substitutes that allowed Newcastle to come back from 3-1 down in the second half to win an exciting game by 4-3.

Chris Hughton – subs turned the game for Magpies

Newcastle were trailing Huddersfield 2-1 at half-time and 3-1 by the 47th minute but then Hughton brought in the big guns in Shola Ameobi and Jonas Gutierrez.

Ameobi replaced captain Nicky Butt at the interval, to add more firepower, and Jonas came on for LuaLua after 65 minutes, and immediately after Ameobi’s equalising penalty.

Chris said after the game:

“Testament to Huddersfield – they pushed us all the way,”  “And we didn’t expect anything else. We always knew it was going to be a tough tie.”

“But we felt that to go on and win the game we had to bring on some experience and quality.”

“Certainly, for the neutrals, they would have thoroughly enjoyed that; and the Newcastle supporters more because we came out on top at the end.”

“It was a typical cup-tie but I was pleased that we came out winners – and I thought over the 90 minutes we were worthy winners.”

And some good news and bad news after the game on potential loans to and from the Newcastle club.

According to this evening’s BBC Sport Commentary, they are reporting Newcastle are close to a loan deal for Spurs’ Gareth Bale.

But also news that Gary Megson wants Kevin Nolan back at Bolton Wanderers, for a season long loan deal, and Ashley is said favor the deal, to reduce the wage bill.

Nolan is just coming into his own at the Tyneside club, and is the epitome of fight and spirit in the Newcastle side this season.

Kevin got his second goal in as many games tonight, and it would be a very bad move for Newcastle.

But hey, Mike Ashley has made enough of those kinds of decisions in the last 12 months, and unfortunately, it seems he is not yet finished.

Newcastle fans are praying Ashley will leave Tyneside soon – to end his horrendous and failed stewardship of the now Championship club.

This will be a blow once again considering our squad is already paper thin.

nolan has been good this would be ridiculas! before long ashley will be visiting local parks to pick up kids to play for free ( that sounds dodgy) but although this is probably untrue its annoyed me, be intresting if we got bids for say 5/6 players on the last day of the window if he’d just accept them all. its well documented how hated ashley is, but i hate him that little bit more every day… i’m praying this take over goes through, but sceptical, waiting and hoping to be proved wrong

Although Nolan has been playing well. We do have an abundance of central players and he is apparently on high wages. If he goes, Guthrie could easily step in whilst Barton recovers. No too mention Vuckic pushing for a first team spot this season. It may not be as bad a move as people think to let Mr Bolton return to his former club.

I would rather lose Barton than Nolan for obvious reasons. however, no one seems interested in taking the troubled midfielder from us, and as proved in his pre season comments, he is fine leeching his ridiculous wages off of us whilst contributing very little.

Looks to me like Bale is coming in and Nolan and Guitierez are going out, there were some strange goings on at the end of tonight’s game with the Argentinian wanting to come of with a pulled hamstring ,and the physio treating the wrong leg.
l wonder who the other Spurs lad we are supposed to be getting is.

Yes, you are probably right. But my point is that we cant shift Barton, everyone has wised up about him and no one wants to know. Therefore we will have to cut wages elsewhere, and if i were top management, and IF i was looking to reduce wages, i would be looking to move on a few CM’s, as that is our strongest area.

The decision for the penalty was shocking, that looked like one of the worst dives ever yet the ref gave it, and booked Krul as well. What a load of rubbish.

Never thought I’d be sorry to see Nolan go but Dragonera is right. Would much rather see the back of Butt, geremi and barton who never seems to be available for more than 2/3 games!

Here we go again, good win overshadowed by Ashley and Lambsarse emptying the club while our back is turned.
Yes, we need to get rid of the players who sent us down but that should include the owner and chairman as well, they are all culpable and guilty as sin.
But they all need to be replaced, i also wonder who is giving Ashley the advice on player sales and recruitment?
Hughton has done a decent job but he should be screaming from the roof tops at these incompetent A’holes to get it sorted or he should walk, or threaten to do so.

I am still convinced that much of Ashley’s actions are malicious and that sabotage is high on his agenda. It is asset stripping disguised as wage reduction. This is not responsible football ownership or sales market behaviour – it is a high street mugging!

What amazes me is that some fans come on here and try and justify what Ashley has done and also sympathize with the twat, blaming the fans for the mess for demanding better and being vocal.

I didnt really enjoy the atmosphere last night. Its not the same when level 7 is shut and all the lads are seperated or not there.

Why is it I always get lumbered with the most unhygienic stinking bloke sitting infront of me!! 🙁

Aye we did ok. I said this all last season – we need to shoot more at goal!!

You could see the immediate change in quality when Shola and Jonas came on.

Kadar and Simpson were ok at the back but silly mistakes and mis-communication were there to see.

Nice on lads – a win by anymeans is a win.

    Roll on round 3

The other loan player newcastle are close to signing is Danny Rose, a winger from tottenham, tottenham also tried to loan us Dos Santos, but newcastle spurned the idea, which im happy about as he always causes bother no matter who he plays for, we already have plenty of players like that!

Before even considering further weakening a thin squad, perhaps Ashley needs to compare two results from last night:

    Tottenham 5 – Doncaster Rovers 1

    Newcastle United 4 – Huddersfield 3.

Donny in the Coca Cola and Huddersfied in the first and they should have been hammered!

    They weren’t!
