Chris Hughton hands full debuts to three Newcastle United youngsters for tonight’s visit of Huddersfield Town, in the Carling Cup.
Hungarian defender Tamas Kadar (19), Congolese midfielder Kazenga LuaLua (18) and England Under-19 striker Nile Ranger (18) all start a match for the first time, while Dutch goalkeeper Tim Krul is making his home debut, but his 3rd appearance for the club.
The back four will be Kadar, Ryan Taylor, Jose Enrique and Danny Simpson, in some order, but exactly who plays in the center of defense, we’re not sure.
It may be Simpson partnering Kadar there.
In midfield, experienced captain Nicky Butt returns for his first start of the season (also true for Geremi), with LuaLua, Danny Guthrie and Geremi.
Nile Ranger will be supported in attack by Kevin Nolan.
Slovenian starlet Haris Vuckic, 17, local lad Ryan Donaldson 18, and promising former Swindon player Ben Tozer, 19 are all named among the substitutes.
Neither Steven Taylor or Coloccini are on the bench, and with our next game not until next Monday – one day before the transfer window closes – there will be renewed speculation that both may have played their last game for the club.
We need to win this game, and then beat Leicester City next Monday.
Next Tuesday evening, we’ll all be able to count the players still standing at Newcastle.
Some of us may have to look for our boots next Wednesday morning! 😀
Howay The Lads!!

Comment #369I will be livid if Enrique is sold. He has finally achieved a consistent level of performance. It would be stupid to sell him now.

Comment #376And I agree that we won’t win this cup, but it’s given the young lads some brilliant experience – a couple more cup games and they’ll start to toughen up and be a little more useful for the league, where we’re bound to have to use them eventually.
Plus the confidence boost will really help with the leagues games – coming back to win from 3-1 down will have the players doing cartwheels…

Comment #379I will take loan signings of the calibre of Bale and Simpson as oppose to 35 year old mercenaries on 5 year 2million a year deals any day of the week.
I like the sound of the US Billionaire group – Moat doesnt have the clout, hes’ probably getting the two’s out of the whisky bottle as we speak. With ESPN taking the setanta games footy will be a growth industry in the US – hence the intrest. If we can get some good loanees and keep the squad we have and have a billionaire group own us i will be over the pulleys.
