Newcastle vs Huddersfield – Match Preview

nufc-crestHuddersfield Town Crest

Stand-in manager Chris Hughton has already said that 21 year-old Dutch goalkeeper Tim Krul will make his home debut against Huddersfield tonight at St. James’ Park – KO 7:45 pm..

And with more youngsters likely to start and be on the bench this will tell us just how ready our youngsters are to fill in when they have to this season. It will be an early measure of how strong the squad is right now.

It’s a really good move by Chris, because this is an opportunity to blood the youngsters, ready for when they get their first team call-ups, and yes, while we may not win tonight, the league has to be our number one priority by a long way this season.

Andy Carroll (groin) definitely misses out tonight, while Joey Barton (foot) is doubtful, and we don’t expect him to be risked.

Slovenian starlet Haris Vuckic, who turned 17 last Friday, is named in the squad, and the game could also see senior debuts for Ryan Donaldson and Tamas Kadar.

In fact we expect Kadar to get a start tonight, probably in place of Coloccini, and maybe Andy Carroll will get his first start too.

But we’re not going to hazard a guess at the full line up – but that will be very interesting when it’s announced around 7:00pm tonight. Let’s just say we expect Krul, Kadar and Ranger to get starts tonight.

We expect Huddersfield to name their strongest side, in an attempt to cause an upset, which of course would delight Geordie manager Lee Clark.

Our next game is Monday night against Leicester City at St. James’ Park, KO 7:45 pm, and if there are any developments with the sale of the club , and for instance the new American bidders manage to secure the deal, watch for a bumper crowd on Monday.

But we need a win and all 3 points, and nothing less will be good enough.

Considering the way some of these youngsters have been bigged up, I am expecting a good victory, be very dissappointed if we lose.

Im going tonight and I can’t wait.

I think players like Krul and Ranger are better than our first team and I hope we wollop Clarkies side.

    ————————Krul——————-
    Simpson—-S.Taylor–Kadar–Ferguson
    LuaLua—–Guthrie—Donaldson–Adjei
    —————–Ranger–Vuckic————

Really don’t know who he will play but I would like to see that.

Ranger and Vuckic are supremely talented footballers. Huddersfield are division 3 hoofers and grinders. No competition. They got spanked 3-0 off Carlisle ha

If theres new owners there might be but otherwise doubt it when its on Sky. I think we only got such a high crowd last time because it wasnt on telly.

It says on the official website that the club is expecting over 20,000 tonight. Depending how many come to pay on the night it could be alot more than that.

    Ed, mate…

You can’t get 3 points in a cup game. In fact you can’t get any… you can get a win, but it’s not rewarded with points! 🙂

Keep up the good work on the blog.

    Thanks from Denmark.

As someone stuck down here in Devon, I hate it when I see empty seats at matches.

If you can get there, PLEASE go and support the lads. The younguns will benefit from a big crowd behind them even more than the seniors, so do yer bit.

4-1 to the Toon. Ranger, Lua Lua and Donaldson all on the scoreboard.

    Here’s hoping for no injuries…

It would be a good game to win giving the squad a further confidence boost. It’s a Cup game so there’s not 3 points in it for us
