Kevin Nolan Coming Into His Own On Tyneside

Coach Chris Hughton has poi9nted to the influence of match-winner Kevin Nolan after he helped Newcastle United to a 4-3 victory over Huddersfield Town last night at St. James’ Park.

Kevin Nolan – mature display last night

Nolan, who wore the captain’s armband during the second half, after Nicky Butt had been taken off at half-time, scored the winning goal on 84 minutes, tapping in Shola’s header almost on the goal line.

And it was a very professional performance in Newcastle’s midfield, and Kevin led by example, in a team containing three teenagers making their first ever starts for the team.

And after the game, Hughton talked about Kevin and his performance:

“Kevin is somebody who has an eye for goal and knows that he has to get himself into those positions on a more regular basis,”

“But the role he’s playing at the moment has allowed him to do that and we hope the goals continue.”

“It was a fantastic relief to see him pop up and turn in Shola’s knockdown for the winner.”

“But, apart from the goal, I thought as a senior player the role he played was excellent and he was key in getting the win.”

It seems official that Gary Megson has indeed  enquired about taking Kevin back to Bolton for a season long loan, but from what we’ve seen this morning, some Bolton fan web-sites are not too keen on that.

That’s fine with us too. 😀

Well according to the BEEB Megson reckons they have enquired about him but got no answer from NUFC so hopefully we’ll keep him & he can help us back into the PL. I see the Bolton fans don’t want him back anyway!

As I posted on an earlier blog:

I think Smith and Nolan are our best players in the Middle, they are forming a good pairing in there!

Bale seems to be made of straw and injury-prone and would be a poor exchange for Nolan if reports of our 2 proposed loan deals are true.

Smith will be gone as well as Nolan.

Both big earners and would bring a fair bit of cash in.

I will make my judgement on this season at 5pm Sept 1st.

Although we are stronger in midfield than elsewhere, I’d hope that Nolan does indeed have a relly clause, which means he’s not on daft wages right now.

I’d much rather see Barton and Butt go – but for very different reasons. Ol’ Butty’s a decent bloke. Barton’s, um, not.

Although we’re seeing good performances, we need to start acclimatising to the financial realities a bit. No matter how well a player plays, no matter how good they are in terms of spirit – if they cost too much every week, we can’t keep them.

Shame, but there you go. What annoys me is that the ones we’d love to see go – Xisco, Geremi (although he was good last night) and so on – are the ones nobody’s going to take on, and the ones least likely to take a salary hit to leave. That means that the Smiths and Nolans and Enriques are the club’s only choice when it comes to trimming that wage bill and staying afloat.

So depressing, but there you go. Cock it all up, get rellied, and here you are, splat.

To be Honest Nolan is No more than a Championship player these days, he is Overweight and lost his box to box running that made him a decent player, would i be unhappy to see him go ? No

    Players which NEED to go:

    Butt, Barton, Geremi, Xisco, Collo

obviously with 3 MF going out we need some MF back in, also if Collo leaves we need a decent first team CB in also!

I would plump for Skjebred, A.Hughes, Dos Santos (loan)

The fire sale will continue with little or no players coming in…the whole squad is up for sale which it always is with ashley in control.

If this fat Jerk had an ounce of sense he would see that with a few decent additions in this window we could walk back into the premiership.

Proper toll Ashley…sick of talking about him and seeing his picture (always looking like a perv adult baby) makes me sick he does.

    No answer?

No change in the club’s customer service standards then!

The midfielder was today linked with a loan move to back to former employers Bolton Wanderers.

But Nolan’s agent, Mark Curtis, insisted the 27-year-old remained committed to the club he joined in January, despite relegation.

“Kevin’s happy at Newcastle, and wants to help them get back into the Premier League,” Curtis told the Gazette.

Simpson made his Arsenal first-team debut in a 6–0 win over Sheffield United in the League Cup, coming on as a substitute for Nicklas Bendtner in the 71st minute.

He scored his first two senior Arsenal goals in the League Cup home match against Wigan Athletic on 11 November 2008, in what was his first senior start for the club.

    Spectulation = Bollox!!

Whats with this Skelbred kid everyone banging on about? Ive seen a few of his game and he looks nothing special.
No-one gonna take barton and pay him the wages we are so were stuck with him. Same with Colocini (unless he goes back to spain) and Geremi (unless he has a career ending injury).

All these loan signings are great but do you think we have had a first option agreement put in? Probably not, so if we get promoted with this lot then transfers and speculation will happen again next summer when we have to re-strengthen!

And the Hypocrisy of some people on this site is unreal!!!!
A few weeks ago, before the season started, people were banging on about Smith, Nolan,Barton, Ameobi, Jonas etc saying how they aint fit to wear the shirt. Now that were winning, out come the brown noses!!!!!

Its clear to see why Ashley treats us like Shite with some of you pleased to get in players that cannot even get into other teams or on the Bench…
