Shearer To Return As Manager – Barry Moat New Chairman?

Yes we know this all gets very tiresome, but news today that Alan Shearer is expected to make a dramatic return to Newcastle United this weekend as the new manager.

Alan Shearer -Tottenham

Alan Shearer – shock return?  – we’ll see

The Daily Star, not really the paradigm of truth in reporting, says that Shearer wants to sign Cardiff’s £6M-rated born and bred Geordie striker, Michael Chopra, to mark his return as Newcastle manager.

Where do we get the money for that?

Of course Michael was at the club for many years through his youth, and no doubt that would be a good move for Newcastle, and Michael would walk back to Newcastle from Cardiff, if he got the offer, since he knows Alan very well, and of course he is a Newcastle fan.

Michael went to  Gosforth High School, the same school the great Shearer attended as a youngster.

Michael has shown he is a prolific scorer in the Championship and already has 7 goals for Cardiff, who are on top of the Championship right now.

The news being reported is that Barry Moat will become chairman in the next 48 hours .

Owner Mike Ashley remains in overall charge, but will take a back seat as he puts his sale bid on hold for the rest of the season .

Moat has been unable to find £100M to buy the club, but apparently will run the club on a day-to-day basis, from Newcastle of course, with his first job to bring back Shearer.

Before we celebrate or otherwise, this story may not be true, however quite a few of our readers have suggested Moat and Ashley jointly run the club – and if this is true it’s a coup for Moat to get Alan back as manager, when all looked lost.

But then again – it may all be lost already.

Ashley would still own the club, but we can only hope that during the negotiations Moat and Ashley found they could work well together. What a concept that was.

We’ll see if this story id true but we’re not going to hold our breath.

Comments very welcome!

hope shearer and moat giv mike a tellin on how to run a club as big as ours, sunderland has done exactly the same thing but instead of our owner taking a back seat their new owner has took a back seat and leave ” hope he drounds in the river… nile quinn” to run the club on the day to day basis and the only power the new owner has is to give nile quinn money. hope dat happens at toon coz wif an owner huiz born n bred geordie ( barry moat) wont let mike do anything. NOVA FING, if this article is true but doesnt happen at the weekend we’ll need to buy a striker hopefully lovenkrands as carrol, xisco amiobi is out. who was at the club shop yesterday player wise?

Well Moat and Shearer are supposedly neighbours and buddies so I guess it was only a matter of time before one of the tabloids posted it on a supposed deadline day… of course as usual it has no substance or grounds…

Still waiting for the supposed official news we were supposed to get today, but as usual the club is like a cemetary with only the ghosts talking…

    That’s why I’m dubious!

Nobody else will take the plunge so why should these?

There most be something wrong with something at the club.

It’s all too late for change in the dugout. We need stability somewhere, and where better place to start than in the engine room? Whoever owns the club come next week should keep C’n’C in charge, and PLEASE leave Chopra down in the Valleys where he belongs.

NUFC is bigger than Shearer, he has been a constant shadow over any real footballing progress in the last 10 years as the board sought to appease his moods. If C’n’C are unjustly kicked out, you can kiss promotion goodbye just like we kissed the Prem goodbye last year after Shearer sprinkled his magic fairy dust of eternal gloom and despondency.

If the worst does happen, I hope they sue Moat for every penny they can get. Either way, they will see top flight football again long before Moat and Shearer will.

PS: tooneskimo, great link. Sad, but all horribly true…

The Star!!!…I wouldn’t wrap me chips in it!

Now, with NEW owners (Yanks are in London as we speak, allegedly) would Barry Moat consider the Chairman’s position, with Shearer in total control of team management…mmmm!

I’d like to think that if / whenever Shearer takes the hot seat and assuming Chris Hughton’s still around, Shearer’d not get too involved with the training regime.

I know it’s early days yet, but Hughton seems to have done a tremendous job in keeping the players focused.

If Al or whoever eventually comes in as manager, have any sense, they’ll do their damndest of hod on to Hughton and reward him for his sterling work over a very difficult year.

Just heard that the mother of Caster Semenya, woman’s 800m champion, has expressed her outrage at the prospect of her daughter being forced to take a gender test.

“This is a real kick in the b*****ks for her!!”

This Chopra Story must be a joke, Shearer was a Forward himself and he must be able to see that Chops can not cut the mustard, 6 million is the cherry on the cake, thats a lot of money for a CCC standard player, we would be better off going to Brazil and picking a lad up for 1 or 2 million, I hear the player market is struggling there and they have to sell to survive ;)…

It sounds like nonsense to me…
