Newcastle Want Everton’s James Vaughan On Loan

Newcastle United boss Chris Hughton wants Everton striker James Vaughan on loan, as he desperately looks for striker reinforcements after in-form Shola Ameobi was injured last Wednesday against Huddersfield., and could be out for 4 weeks.

James Vaughan – smiling after he heard he may join Newcastle

Hughton has reportedly asked Everton manager David Moyes to let him have the powerful young England U21 forward on loan.

The 21 year old Vaughan wants first team action to rehabilitate his once very promising career, and the Birmingham born youngster is still Everton’s youngest-ever goalscorer but his career has stagnated over last season.

The young forward is said to be very keen to join the Tyneside club, and we are told that Moyes will give his decision over the weekend.

Hughton is said to also have other targets he is pursuing.

Vaughan is 5’11” tall, has played 3 times for the England U21 side, and has appeared around 40 times for Everton with 6 goals.

His 73rd-minute substitute appearance against Crystal Palace on 10th April 2005, broke Joe Royle’s record as the club’s youngest first-team player by 11 days, when he was just 16 years and 271 days old (give or take a few hours) .

Since then Vaughan has since been surpassed by Jose Baxter.

Then his 84th-minute goal in that game, not only made him Everton’s youngest-ever scorer, surpassing Wayne Rooney at 16 years 400 days, but he also overtook James Milner as the Premiership’s youngest scorer.

The former Newcastle and Leeds winger (now at Aston Villa) previously held the record at 16 years 357 days.

We think James Vaughan can do well for us on loan this season.

Comments welcome.

Ed, that’s Leon Osman in the pic not James Vaughan 🙂 He would be a decent loanee but he has quite a few injury problems himself so whether he could do well for us on a consistent basis for us is a slight problem for me.

Can’t see how he’s a big improvement on Ranger though? Ah well we need all the players we can get I reckon.

James Vaughn is a useful player, he is gritty and has impressed me when I have seen him. The downside is that he seems to be injury prone.

Overall I think that he would be a big hit in the Fizzy Pop.

I think well be taken over in the last few minutes of the window (man city style) I think it will go right down to the wire all three partys wanting the best deal. ( Moat, yanks and the fatman) and someone will give in.

I’d be willing to put money on it

Geordie-Gerrard7 get used to it because Mike Ashley’s going to do all he can to keep you here. but they annoying part is it wold only cost 4 million to get promotion.

i recon 12 million get Shearer 8 million from the sale of the remaining season tickets that would go with a shearer appointment, 4 million from Ashly’s pocket, 150 million added to the value of the club in the premiere, its a gamble of 4 million to make 150 that’s a gamble Ashley.

Belfast, why on earth would we be sold in the last few minutes/hours of the transfer window? That’d be much to late to set up and execute any signings. So when it gets that late without the sale of the club going through, why would they rush things?

We’re not going to be sold before the window shuts. It’s sad I know, but get used to it.

Anybody “know” (ho ho) if takeover talks are on-going / dead / paused for the weekend?
(Takeover News – where are you? I like your posts – they give me hope but you don’t over-egg the pudding, so to speak)
