The News Of The World Is reporting that Newcastle may be able to sell Fabricio Coloccini to powerhouse club, Fenerbahce, of Instanbul, Turkey.
Fabricio Coloccini – offloading him to Fenerbahce?
It seems that Newcastle are getting some kind of control on their finances, with the club’s overdraft reduced to £20M of the £39M available.
Presumably that has been because of the money (around £23M – but that will not all come immediately of course) from the sale of Martins, Beye, Bassong and Duff.
We also reduced the wage bill by about £10M/year on the club’s wage bill in selling those four players
We’re not sure if the news that Newcastle want to sell Fabricio Coloccini for a £3M transfer to Fenerbahce is true, since we lose a cool £7M on his transfer in a short 12 months.
But with various reports suggesting Fabricio’s on around £70K/week, as long as we bring in another solid center back in – like Matthew Kilgallon of the Blades or Andy O’Brien from Bolton, who of course was at Newcastle during the golden Bobby Robson years, we would probably be just fine.
Fabricio was not worth his transfer fee nor the wages he is on, although his big advantage is he can play almost every game.
He’s hardly ever injured and when we have a small squad, that gets to be important. The other big incentive for the player is that he still has a chance to play for the Argentine in South Africa next year.
The wage bill will be further reduced by around £3.6M if Fabricio leaves, and that may be good since he’;s hardly a footballer we’d like to keep in case we are promoted this season, since he wasn’t convincing in the Premier league.
That will take the wage bill down to around £44M, and there is a good chance that be can ship Xisco off to Racing Santandar.
But the Tyneside club is probably over a barrel with £5.7M signing Xisco, because Racing may not be able to pay all his wages of £50K/week.
This lad has been a crazy buy by the club, although it’s not Xisco’s fault that we paid £5.7M for him.
Comments welcome.

Been there ………etc, etc.
I wasn’t specifically pointing to you but given the evidence of what has been said and what has been done – the man lies.
In business you rely on your customers especially in the service business. MA has treat his customers like sh*t. He has also treat his workforce like sh*t. It is not a good business model.
I haven’t seen anything from Takeovernews today.

Not a big problem though, when you consider that he’s another Stardust-style WUM who knows nothing more than the rest of us. Please don’t get sucked in. I’m sure he said something would happen this weekend and nothing has.

Comment #51That’d be pretty useless Belfast – the transfer deadline is 5pm on tuesday and even if they take control at 9am tuesday morning I can’t imagine them having the time necessary to identify targets, contact clubs, agree fees, bring the players up, discuss terms, do the medical examinations and sign them up within 8 hours.
Call me cynical if you like.

Comment #53Sorry about the stardust line Anger, I am tired of seeing people defend Ashley and that muppet always springs to mind. At least we can all enjoy watching the a few victories over the last couple of weeks. I hope the form continues and we win promotion and find that rich sugar daddy.
Also dont confuse the transfer window closing with a buyer pulling out of the club, anyone who is serious about making a long term commitment to the club should be happy to buy outside of the window. This whole deadline thing is just part of Ashleys smoke and mirrors act.

Comment #55Besides, I’d rather have somelike like Moat, assuming he’d know what he was doing in running a club. Get someone in that cares about Newcastle United and doesn’t just think of us as a f^cking “brand”. Run the club within its means and any success we have is ours, not because some massive foreign corporation has spunked money into us until some silverware falls out of the other end – along with a load of lucrative marketing tours in the Far East, a place in some Mickey-Mouse out-of-season tournament in the US, an advertising deal with an arabic brand we can’t even write let alone pronounce, support for a 39th game to be played in Phoenix or Utah, etc etc…

thats very ambitious thinking
i think as llambias says, there’s no real deadline and that discussions will still continue on after the deadline passes, the transfer deadline is not the deadline for the takeover

Comment #57I know, don’t worry. If either Moat or these Americans are genuine I full expect them to be willing to buy outside of the window – although surely if they do they’ll push for a discount, as once the window shuts our chances of being promoted are definitely reduced, assuming we don’t strengthen.
And I’m just as desperate for us to sell as you guys, I’m just not convinced it’s going to happen any time soon.
And as much as I’d prefer to avoid becoming part of some massive American corporate machine, I guess it’s better than being sold to arab sheiks/princes. After all these are people who, despite the outward appearance, rule over countries where women are oppressed, people are sentenced to death (by horrendous methods) for relatively minor crimes, poor people have few rights and an appalling standard of living despite their rulers living in complete luxury etc etc.

aye i wonder sometimes if he graduated from the school of ‘bullsh**’ run by joe kinnear but i think he is accurate on this statement, i expect a few incoming loans or frees maybe and possible the exit of one or two high earners like colo or geremi in the next two days, having said loans and frees can be completed after the deadline so there mightent be too much influx of activity ………i just dont know o be honest, its too hard to predict anything at the club at the moment these days

Comment #69No, I would actually have Geremi down as my first player to be let go! Seriously, I’d release him on a free quite happily. He’s miles down the pecking order and his legs have largely gone, so he’s simply draining the club of cash with no return. I can’t see us getting more than £1m for him, which on £50k per week he’ll take out of the club in 20 weeks.
Get rid!

god allaydyce really did make some shi*e signings, underperforming players on haigh wages i.e. barton, smith, geremi, viduka, cacapa, enrique……faye and beye were the only good ones, thankfully enrique came good after a while and hopefully smith and barton will too!! unfortunately when alladyce was in charge, ashley wasnt too tight with the money, and the money got wasted by alladyce……..or maybe allydce didnt get enough time..who knows

Comment #80Whatever they’re on, it’s too much.
And on reflection, we have no chance of getting rid of Geremi – as you say, no club would take him even for free if they had to pay those wages. We’d have to pay him to leave.
Still, it might be worth it in the long run – how much longer does he have on his contract?
