The News Of The World Is reporting that Newcastle may be able to sell Fabricio Coloccini to powerhouse club, Fenerbahce, of Instanbul, Turkey.
Fabricio Coloccini – offloading him to Fenerbahce?
It seems that Newcastle are getting some kind of control on their finances, with the club’s overdraft reduced to £20M of the £39M available.
Presumably that has been because of the money (around £23M – but that will not all come immediately of course) from the sale of Martins, Beye, Bassong and Duff.
We also reduced the wage bill by about £10M/year on the club’s wage bill in selling those four players
We’re not sure if the news that Newcastle want to sell Fabricio Coloccini for a £3M transfer to Fenerbahce is true, since we lose a cool £7M on his transfer in a short 12 months.
But with various reports suggesting Fabricio’s on around £70K/week, as long as we bring in another solid center back in – like Matthew Kilgallon of the Blades or Andy O’Brien from Bolton, who of course was at Newcastle during the golden Bobby Robson years, we would probably be just fine.
Fabricio was not worth his transfer fee nor the wages he is on, although his big advantage is he can play almost every game.
He’s hardly ever injured and when we have a small squad, that gets to be important. The other big incentive for the player is that he still has a chance to play for the Argentine in South Africa next year.
The wage bill will be further reduced by around £3.6M if Fabricio leaves, and that may be good since he’;s hardly a footballer we’d like to keep in case we are promoted this season, since he wasn’t convincing in the Premier league.
That will take the wage bill down to around £44M, and there is a good chance that be can ship Xisco off to Racing Santandar.
But the Tyneside club is probably over a barrel with £5.7M signing Xisco, because Racing may not be able to pay all his wages of £50K/week.
This lad has been a crazy buy by the club, although it’s not Xisco’s fault that we paid £5.7M for him.
Comments welcome.

Comment #84i’d like to keep smith he’s shown some great play in mid whilst he’s been captain and i still think he would do us a good turn, but the other 3 i’m not that bothered about, butt maybe good for another team for a year or two Geremi has to go, and barton (if he sorted himself out he could still be a cracking player) but unfortunatly i think he’s to much of a liability, just can’t see many takers though 🙁

Comment #91all i know is its a joke, we run our own club here, every match each starting player gives $5 each for the ref, maintaince of the club etc, we will also be giving another $5 to train on the astro turf during the months where there not enough daylight to train on the pitch……..we train 3 times a week, many times straight after work or college, we then mark our own pitch lines, set up goalposts etc and these fuc*ers are get 50k plus to train…bloody injustice, but i love the game

Comment #93Ashley will never sell the club because who in their right mind is going to pay a 100 million upfront for a Championship club while inheriting a load of debt and a wage bill that is still higher than the majority of most premiership clubs. If Ashley was serious about selling he would cut his losses and get out but he hasn’t.
The people who are shown an interest are either doing it for publicity like that Singapore consortium did or don’t have the money to do so like Moat.
Whether we like it or not we are going have to get used to Ashley hanging around and running the club further into the ground while cashing in every single penny we make from transfers for himself.

Comment #111Since when has MA been the slightest bit worried about having replacements lined up before selling for peanuts? We couldn’t buy a decent replacement for £3 million.
Anyway, didn’t Hughton say the fire-sale was over? Now rumour has it Carroll is on his way too with only a day and bit of the transfer window left.
We’re already a first team short of a squad, numbers wise, and it seems the big fella is trying his damnest to wreck ‘his’ teams unbeaten start to the campaign. God help us all.

There are several sites that report we paid 10 million Euros for Colo. Only the clubs will know the exact truth though..

Xisco has just gone back to Spain!
Can you remember when Middlesborough were docked points because they didn’t have enough players to put out a first team?
