Newcastle Reported To Be After Sheffield United Star

Newcastle are reported to be ready to put in a £2M bid for Sheffield United’s central defender Matt Kilgallon.

Matt Kilgallon 2

Mat Kilgallon – real interest from Newcastle

The 6’2″ York born defender has been impressive at Sheffield United, since he arrived from Leeds United in  January of 2007.

And we assume he’ll be brought in to fight it out with Coloccini and Steven Taylor for a first team place, with 19 year -old Hungarian Tamas Kadar also in the mix and very likely to progress big time this season.

The club do need to bring in a central defender and a striker before Tuesday at 5:00 pm, and we have to see some action from Newcastle shortly – surely.

A product of the youth set-up at Leeds, Kilgallon played under Dennis Wise at Leeds before he signed for Sheffield United on January 8 2007, for £1.75M which will rise to £2M with a 20% sell on clause Seems that Newcastle would do well to get this lad for just £2M, and may have to increase their bid.

25 year-old Kilgallon, who has played 5 times for the England U21 side , was voted Sheffield United’s player of the season for last season.

If true, decent player at this level. Has potential but time willcertainly tell if it’s just another pie in the sky story.

With loan signings other side of the transfer window and the international break to come, now is not the time to panic……….is kit?

    Keep the faith all.
