I agree with you. Don’t want Shearer and want Dowie even less but no doubt he will be given the reins to placate the masses. Hope it doesn’t cause unrest with the players especially when we have a great team spirit at the minute.

So, what was Shearer doing at SJP with Dowie of all people?

For crying out loud, if that’s not gonna cheese Hughton right off, I can’t think what would. Given that he’s done a superb job under extremely difficult circumstances, he’s proved that he’s got the stamina and the temperament to do the job and has the respect of the players.

So, does Dowies presence alongside Shearer mean that Shearer, if he’s installed, is going to break up a winning combination and install Dowie as his henchman?

Results last season showed that that duo were hardly successful and one would like to think that Shearer’d be able to use Hughton’s talents to the advantage of the club and the pleasure of the fans.

I’m sceptical about appointing the Shearer-Dowie pairng and if they do join the club, I wonder how long before we hit the slippery slope from the top.

Sorry guys, but I aint convinced about the wisdom of giving Shearer the reins at this stage – it’s players we need not turmoil…… again!

If it’s not broke, don’t fix it!

Ed – Not sure Coloccini’s aerial skills were missed tonight. I wasn’t aware he possessed any. As for the international call up, we can’t demand that he plays as this is a Monday night game and as such, falls within the international break. Therefore, under FIFA rules, if he is called up to the squad, we are powerless to refuse it. And as for reading anything into his absence, Leo Messi (not injured) was missing from Barcelona’s squad for their game against Gijon and I doubt he’s on his way out of Camp Nou…

As usual you are talkig utter nonsense, just trying to be different. Ranger ineffective? He was obviously advised to win the ball in the air, hold up play and bring midfielders into the game further up the pitch…which he did to great effect. Not to mention he got an assist. His effort was second to none and the only thing he didn’t do was score for Gods sake! He was very impressive. Hopefully now he will be go above Carroll in the pecking order…

Hmm! if we are to lose Colo, what about Killgallon to partner taylor (an U21 CD team)
could be a decent signing and perhaps a pairing for the future.
Would`nt mind Gibson but dont think either are going to happen.
Just the possible loanee or Bosman.

Hmmm, yeah think we did miss Colo to-night.
It`s when one realizes the difference between a Collo and the kids filling in.
Everyone seems to think Ranger had a good game, personally i thought he was fairly innofective and could see he needs to bulk up and put himself about more.
Sure with the lack of numbers it looks like we have little choice but to employ the kids more in a projected long season, but we desperately need bodies and i have to agree with the addage
you will win nowt with kids.
But on saying that, dont expect anything but free agents and loanees.

Ok it ain’t the first time CH has said this and we lost Xisco on loan, I don’t believe that we won’t lose more until five pm this afternoon. CH is doing a sterling job and is winning me over. But sorry he knows as much as us nowt.

We need a centre back or two and a striker (lovenkrands). Its obvious and surely even Ashley can realise that.

Ed….Taylor and Simpson took a bashing in the air but Howard is one of the best around in the lower league for winning the long balls so i wouldnt read much into that. Simpson played well i thought and we dealt with Howards flick ons quite well.

Smith did a great job in putting off Howard as well by getting in front of him.

Onohua get a game at city these days? Would be a very very good loan singing.
