Coloccini Not In Squad – Geremi, Ranger Start

nufc-crestLeicester City svg

We said in the match preview that if Coloccini starts tonight he will be staying on Tyneside – well – guess what?   He’s not even on the bench.

That probably means a deal’s in place for Coloccini to leave Tyneside – so maybe the Fenebahce story that he’ll be sold for 3M may be true after all.

That’s OK with us – as long as we bring in an experienced center-back to replace him – Matt Kilgallon from Sheffield United or Andy O’Brien from Bolton would both be good, as would Watford’s Mike Williamson.

And of course our own 19 year-old Tamas Kadar, who is on the bench tonight, is just waiting for his next chance.

We don’t think Fabricio’s out  because of International duty, because he can leave tomorrow for that. Brazil play Argentiona on 5th September – which is this coming  Saturday.

18 year old teenage striker Nile Ranger keeps his place in attack with Shola Ameobi out.

Jonas Gutierrez (groin) also misses out and experienced Cameroon internatioonal Geremi, who scored in last week’s 4-3 Carling Cup victory over Huddersfield Town, again starts in midfield.

Joey Barton returns to the side after a two-week foot layoff with Danny Guthrie, Kevin Nolan and skipper Alan Smith completing the engine room line-up. That’s strong midfield, which we hope will be too strong for Leicester tonight.

Ryan Taylor, Danny Simpson, Steven Taylor and Jose Enrique make up the defense. Chris Hughton is plumping for experience tonight with Danny Simpson partnering Steven Taylor in the heart of defense.

Maybe it was Danny’s strong showing there last Wednesday that convinced Newcastle they could cash in on Coloccini.

Chris would also have gone with a back four of Simpson Kadar Taylor S and Enrique.

19 year-old French forward Wesley Ngo Baheng is named among the substitutes for the first time.

The bench looks very young – as you may expect as we are running out of players.

This is a game we must win.

Howay The Lads!!

We need at least 3 centre backs, 1 left back, 1 winger and 1 maybe 2 strikers at the very least. I doubt that will happen with that crook Ashley still incharge!

Yes he’s 5.9 and up against a 6.3 striker, total craziness would have preferred Kadar.

ed coloccini is not playing because he is on international duty with argentina, messi is not in the squad for barcelona either.

i honestly dont think coloccini will be sold. want him to like but doubt it will happen.

Colo is travelling for international duty so he will not be sold. But there seems to be no reason for Butt to be left out so I’d say that he’s on his way.

He is travelling for international duty as all players going abroad do this on the Monday. He wants to be in the Argentina WC squad so he’s not gonna make Maradona wait is he. I bet you anything Colo will still be at the club when the window shuts.

Ian Dowie sitting in the studio here, just said he was “good, but not great friends with Alan” before he took the job at Newcastle. Said they’d maybe see each other once a year at Xmas do’s n such. I thought they were alot closer than that like!

On another note, didnt realise it was absolutly bucketing it down, gonna make it rather interesting. Hughton says he’s known about Xisco’s loan move for a while now but they were just waiting for it all to go through.
