Kevin Nolan, who is one of the leaders of the team this season, has come out today with just one day left of the transfer season, and said we need half a dozen new players.
Kevin Nolan – Newcastle need 6 new players
Nolan told the Shield’s Gazette this morning:
“I don’t know what’s going on, but I think the main thing for us is that we need to get players in, no matter what happens, whether Mike Ashley keeps it, or goes.”
“We need quality players. We’ve got a couple of good young lads. ” “Kazenga LuaLua played most of pre-season, and Nile Ranger, who came in and did fantastically well. He came in and did a great job.”
“Butty’s come back, which is a massive plus for us, and we’ve got Joey Barton to come back. We have got a good quality squad, but we need to build on it.”
“We need 19 or 20 players at least, and at the moment, we’re only at 13 or 14, which isn’t going to help us through the season with suspensions and injuries.”
After scoring his first goal after 99 seconds in the 2-0 win at Crystal Palace 9 days ago, he then scored the winner in the 86th minute against Huddersfield last Wednesday, to get Newcastle into the next round of the Carling Cup, where we will visit Peterborough in the next round.
Hughton has used Nolan as a second striker for much of pre-season, and it will be important that Kevin had a good game tonight, supporting young Nile Ranger, if we are to beat a good Leicester side tonight.
