Newcastle United interim gaffer Chris Hughton has confirmed that he could re-sign winger Peter Lovenkrands.
Peter Lovenkrands – striker or winger – we need both!
And of course tomorrow is not a deadline for any players out of contract because they can be signed at any time.
Talking to my son Neil yesterday, he was saying that left back Michael Ball, who was at Everton, Rangers, PSV and recently Manchester City, is now a free agent and still available.
Michael Ball – still only 29
If that’s true he would be a great signing to push Jose, and if he came in he could do a good job for his us with his experience, especially in the Championship.
Michael has made over 250 first class appearances with 9 goals, and he played once for England in 2001.
Peter Lovenkrands, whose wife Teresa is from Glasgow, and recently had their second child, obviously wants to continue his career in England.
We heard yesterday that he is also wanted by Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish, and that could be a draw since McLeish was at Rangers when Peter played there.
That was back in 2000, when we all thought he was signing for Newcastle, but we have since heard he though he’d get more game in Glasgow.
Chris Hughton said today:
“Peter is one that we are very aware of. He had a good period here and we know that he’s not fixed up,”
If Peter wants to come back to Newcastle, that would be great, but if he doesn’t, that’s OK too, because we only want players this season, who want to be here.
