Lovenkrands And Michael Ball Available As Free Agents

Newcastle United interim gaffer Chris Hughton has confirmed that he could re-sign winger Peter Lovenkrands.

peter lovenkrands 3200

Peter Lovenkrands – striker or winger – we need both!

And of course tomorrow is not a deadline for any players out of contract because they can be signed at any time.

Talking to my son Neil yesterday, he was saying that left back Michael Ball, who was at Everton, Rangers, PSV  and recently Manchester  City, is now a free agent and still available.

michael ball

Michael Ball – still only 29

If that’s true he would be a great signing to push Jose, and if he came in he could do a good job for his us with his experience, especially in the Championship.

Michael has made over 250 first class appearances with 9 goals, and he played once for England in 2001.

Peter Lovenkrands, whose wife Teresa is from Glasgow, and recently had their second child, obviously wants to continue his career in England.

We heard yesterday that he is also wanted by Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish, and that could be a draw since McLeish was at Rangers when Peter played there.

That was back in 2000, when we all thought he was signing for Newcastle, but we have since heard he though he’d get more game in Glasgow.

Chris Hughton said today:

“Peter is one that we are very aware of. He had a good period here and we know that he’s not fixed up,”

If Peter wants to come back to Newcastle, that would be great, but if he doesn’t, that’s OK too, because we only want players this season, who want to be here.

Comments welcome.

Tom – I disagree. I saw Michael Ball in “Hairspray” in London last year and he was fantastic.

Ball would be decent cover just incase something happens to Enrique and its just another body in the squad really which is what we need!

I would take what we can get at the moment as the numbers are really short at the club. Ball would be useful on the bench and as far as Lovenkrands is concerned yes we should get him signed now ACTIONS speak louder than words.

SSN have reported that we’re in talks with Lovenkrands today. I have to agree that some free agents would be good at present and Ball as well as Berti would be good additions, possibly with Henri Camara and Julian Gray.
None long term, but all currently free agents who could do the job.

Xisco out? Good riddance, he’s too slow for english football. However, he’s having a medical there, so he’s not gone yet.

But now Toon will have to bring in a couple of new faces. The squad is seriously getting thin. But bringing in guys like Sibierski and Ball is nonsense, then it’s better to play youngsters like LuaLua and Kadar.

Season long loan, if we get cover (lovenkrands and a loan signing) it would be good as he needs first team football. If he plays well we can either have him back as a better player, or his price will be notched up.

Lovenkrands yes!!!!! Ball yeh why not. Camara..absolutely not! Theres better loan players out there.

Martin Albrechtsen was released yesterday so he’s another we could bring in. He has tons of experience at this level, he’s 6 foot 2 and plays all across the backline which is exactly what we need right now.
