In all likelihood 18 year-old striker Nile Ranger will start tonight for Newcastle
Nile Ranger – signing his new contract earlier this year – starts tonight?
Ranger was signed as a free agent last August after being rather abruptly released by Southampton, and he told the Evening Chronicle today:
“My aim is to play as much first-team football as possible this season.” “I want to work hard for the team and repay the coaches and everybody at the club – hopefully I can give them an option tonight.”
“It’s always a great feeling to win and feel part of a team.” “There’s lots of injuries at the moment as well, so I’ve got to stay on my toes.”
“Kaz, Tamas and Tim Krul – we all had to go out there and give our all.” “We’re young, so we have to look up to the experienced lads. They give us some confidence.”
“The boss showed faith in us, and told us we had done well and given our all against Huddersfield last week.” “It’s five games unbeaten, so it’s so far, so good. I hope it stays that way.”
One thing we’d love to see tonight is for Nile to get his first senior goal for the club.
That will give him the confidence he can make it big time in this game of football, if he keeps applying himself the way he has these 12 months.
And it could also help us to get the 3 points we desperately need.
