Racing Santander will add two new faces to their squad this season, after agreeing one-year loan deals for Barcelona defender Henrique and Newcastle United Spanish U21 striker Xisco.
Xisco - one year loan deal looks official
23-year-old Spaniard Xisco only moved to Newcastle from Deportivo La Coruna last September, but has been unable to get many first team games.
Racing have officially confirmed on their website that they had reached agreements with both Barca and Newcastle to take the two players on loan until June 30, 2010 .
The site adds that the pair will be added to the Cantabrian club’s squad once they pass their medicals.
The loan move will only be official once the Spaniard passes his medical, of course.
That’s good move by Newcastle because it takes a high wage earner (£50K/week) off the books that will help sell the club. It’s also good for Xisco because he’ll get a lot more games this season, which he needs.
But this would suggest Newcastle have another striker lined up, and there should be no way that 20 year-old Andy Carroll will be leaving., which is more good news.
Good move by the Tyneside club.
Comments welcome.

Who is Xisco?
2 MacToon // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:00 PM
Too high a wages for someone who rarely even warmed the bench let alone play. I’d guess he was on around £40K/week.

no way racing santander will be paying all of it.
4 Mikey25 // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:03 PM
Didn’t he sing a song about thongs? Must be one of our directors or something!
This is a joke, might as well admit it, MA is slowly floating us to the final waterfall down shits creek!!!
5 Rangerman // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:03 PM
Good luck to him and I hope he can get his career back on track, he was still involved with the Spanish under 21′s in the summer so he must still be regarded back home.

We have to have a striker lined up now surely!? Vaughan on loan perhaps? All this tension is taking it’s tole on me!!
7 Dan4Toon // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:04 PM
Glad to get rid IMO now the wages are a big relief but makes our squad more unbalanced with about 11 players in our squad midfielders, so need a few more strikers and defenders!
8 Fostino // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:04 PM
i guess 25-30k
9 tino97 // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:06 PM
Surely letting him go, must mean we have a couple of strikers lined up. We have Ameobi out injured for 6-8 weeks. Carroll 20 year old who is injured and Nile Ranger who is an unproven youngster!
10 Ally // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:06 PM
We cant keep selling players and bringing no one in, its crazy
11 Dan4Toon // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:06 PM

If/when Xisco goes, peoples derision will soon move to another one of our players…Can’t wait to see who that’ll be…The suspense is killin’ me!..
Scores on his debut, plays 5/6 games, as sub, & judged!..
…This little episode could be a new low!?!..
18 sahil // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:11 PM
Xisco was on 55k pw.
19 MacToon // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:12 PM
Hopefully with Xisco gone on loan Carroll will remain but I think that was just Sunday paper BS stirring it up anyway.
We defo need a few players in but there is still a month left for loan signings!
Never easy being a Toon fan.
20 Fostino // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:14 PM
even tho our squad is tiny, we can still afford to loan out our players to get some first team action…….i am confused!
21 Big Dave // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:17 PM
I dont think it will be a big lose as he wasnt given a chance and dont think he was going to get a chance.
22 Ally // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:17 PM
Fostino im confused as well mate it must mean we have some loan deals lined up ourselves surely
23 geordielad880 // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:18 PM
Xisco was on 55k a week, which is alot for the bit part player he was, i dont think newcastle will sign many players, probably lovenkrands, and a centre half
24 Bill F // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:22 PM
He won’t come back, you could put money on it. I agree with an ealier comment by punk skunk (I think it was anyway) that we never really had a chance to properly judge him. He was in much the same position as Shola, trying to get games after injury, different song for Shola now though?
25 punk skunk... // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:24 PM
Yea Bill,
it was me!..
…’Nuff said really mate!..
26 batty // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:25 PM
Xisco must be realy shit if he still cant get in our side
27 BlacknWhite Barmy // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:26 PM
Another piece of crap managment by our very own pie munching owner – its all very well getting rid of dead wood (not that I think Xisco is), why as a loan??? We paid 6M for him, have a striking crisis (especially if Carrol throws his toys out and moves on), no real chance of signing anyone before tomorrow and yet we are happy for anither team to et the benefit from him whilst paying a part of his wages – Ashley cannot bee this incompetent surely !!!!
28 MacToon // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:27 PM
Or maybe he was another poor signing and over paid at that!
29 BlacknWhite Barmy // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:29 PM
MacToon – if you are holding on to the fact that theres another month to do ‘loans’ its a very sad day.
Ashley is selling anything he can at the moment and pocketing it – another 1.5M tonight from match revenue – easy money.
30 Eaststander // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:29 PM
We may well have a striker lined up but we tend to let other people steal them from us while Hughton is trying to find which casino Ashley and lambias are in. Thats my taxi Toon toon black and white army 3-0 to us tonight.
31 MacToon // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:30 PM
Why assume we are paying part of his wage or have you seen something that says we are? Santandar obviously don’t pay a signing on fee so maybe they’ll cover his wages for a year and yes it might make him a better player with more experience whether to keep or sell in the future.
32 Fostino // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:30 PM
i doudt xisco was on wages over 50k, maybe 25-30 k, and im hoping this club is paying xisco’s full wages whilst on loan
33 TrinidadToon // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:30 PM
Realistically I think that any chance (if MA ever intended to sell) has now gone of us being taken over before the transfer deadline closes.
What we will see between now and 5pm tomorrow is the stripping down of as much of the wage bill as possible by the fat one to try and make the club as little financial burden as he can through to January. Xisco going is the start of a few heading out reckon. Remember the oan deadline isn’t for another month so i expect to see a few more go out – the MA will look again at finances etc and sanction a couple of low cost loan signings to increase squad size.
I may be wrong but Im fairly sure that under MA newcastle have always closed transfer windows having brought in more money than we’ve spent. I dont see why when the club is so publicly for sale he will do anything different in this window to the ones before.
Being honest hes so stupid that our good start to the season has probably blinkered him into thinking promotion is a definite for us when it clearly isn’t.
The only hope we can have is that once the windows slams shut, our finances are essentially fixed bar loan signing til January. This should allow any one left who wants to buy us to be able to get a handle on our accounts rather than grasping at water. How a club valued at £100m in June can still be worth £100m less Martins, Bassong, Beye etc I have no idea. Any takeover will wait til after the window then maybe buy club and then sanction loan signings- thus limiting immediate outay and still caryying favour with toon fans who can blame MA again for a wasted summer.
Rant Over.
34 AndyNUFC // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:34 PM
Right so we’ve got… 3 strikers now? Brilliant business this like… just send away one of the few strikers we have.
35 MacToon // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:34 PM
BlacknWhite Barmy, I absolutely hate and despise this owner but I still try and keep a positive outlook on things but I don’t hold my breath waiting on him to improve this club.
Atleast we’ve had some better games to watch in the CCC and imo the matches are entertaining and generally have had better referee’ing compared to the inconsistences of the EPL.
36 sahil // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:38 PM
Great move from tha toon!
Lets hope we can get moree players in befor the dealine ;D
37 Ross // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:40 PM
Don’t be surprised if we definitly do NOT have a new striker lined up lads. Xisco barely got a look in, no doubt Ashley is under the impression the we’ll never notice he’s gone in the first place, so it doesnt matter anyway.

We should give lua lua a try up front he’s pacey and skillful ;D
40 magpie6699 // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:46 PM
Errm – why so negative about Xisco going? Maybe he didn’t get many starts but when he did, did he show any skill, pace, strength? Not that I saw. I’m not saying I wouldn’t have kept him for a bit longer if we could have afforded the luxury, but we can’t.
And he was a luxury – the evidence is on this blog. I wonder how many people moaning about his going have already put out their choice of team for tonight? And how many had Nile Ranger in rather than 23 year old Xisco? And how many chose to put Smith or Nolan up front with him, rather than Xisco? So if you all think he’s not even second pick when Owen, Martins have left, Shola and Carroll are injured, what are we paying him £50K for?
41 Toon_Army // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:47 PM
Xisco going is certainly good news, but this is not the news we have been waiting for, I am taking the silence as a cue for another season of Ash and his Croneys…
42 Jan Stavik // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:47 PM
It’s strange if NUFC let him go without having a replacement ready to step up. But he was on crazy money, and never got a game so he was not of much use anyway.
I’m hoping for Beckford before the deadline, but I’m afraid we’ll just see one mediocre loanee arriving.

46 JinkyGenius // Aug 31, 2009 at 2:53 PM
OK, this is the deal. Xisco will now go onto net enough goals to get into the Spanish World Cup squad. His value will go rocketing up after a hat-trick against someone or other in the group stages and we will either sell him at a profit or take him back, whereupon he will set the Prem alight (NUFC having being promoted by them) helping send us back into Europe for the 2011/12 season. Any flaws….?

none of the goals he has scored this season look as though he was comfortable or knew what he was doing!

there might be method in Ashley’s madness but i am stumped to work out what it is, who i making these decisions. maybe Ashley & his ar*e flip for it.
