Newcastle Sign Lovenkrands – Official

5:04 pm, Tuesday, September 1st, 2009 by Ed Harrison · 65 Comments

Sky Sports has just conformed that Peter has just signed for Newcastle, minutes before the deadline passed a few minutes ago.

Peter Lovenkrands – Newcastle United player again

Sky Sports is saying Peter rejected two previous offers from Newcastle, because he was not too happy with, but finally signed the Dane. We assume the deal he has now is not as good as the 6 months deal he had earlier this year – but that is hardly surprising.

But this is a good signing for the side because Peter is class, and can play at striker or on either wing, and he can score those goals, which we’ll need this season if we are to be promoted. In 12 appearances he has scored 3 goals.

We understand Peter will wear the No.11 jersey for Newcastle and is in line to make his second debut (?), when Newcastle travel to Cardiff City on September 13th.

And news just in that it’s a 3 year deal he’s signed, so it looks like Peter is guaranteed another two seasons in the Premier League with Newcastle. :D

But Newcastle seem to have failed to sign center-back Matthew Kilgallon from Sheffield United, as the deal didn’t get done before the transfer deadline, which has now passed.

We await official word from the Newcastle club as to who officially we have signed today.

But it doesn’t look like we’ve made too many signings, although we seem to have kept all the players we had this morning, and that’s good news, and something that Chris Hugton almost promised us.

Comments welcome..

I don’t actually think Newcastle United could have let the fans down any more this summer if they tried.

  • 2 legends1892 // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:07 PM

Nice 1 no-brainer in my opinion!! any 1 know how long he signed for??

  • 3 summerof69 // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:07 PM

i am a fan of mcloven he is a great signing though it would have great if we could have signed a few more as were low on numbers as most of you will know

  • 4 NorCal ToonFan // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:07 PM

I am just happy we signed someone up front at this point. He proved himself a quality last campaign…it will be nice to have him back in the squad.

    FAO TOM TOON ZEWUM1 TEMURI

last night on 606 you stated that we had an additional month to sign players on loan and anybody who wasn’t aware of that wasn’t a football fan and had no knowledge of the game.

IT TURNS OUT YOU WERE WRONG YOU SMUG ARROGANT DICKHEAD. CHEW ON THAT YOU RETARD YOU KNOW MUCH LESS THAN YOU MAKE OUT!

    get in peter lovenkrands :)

  • 8 ToonTonic // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:10 PM

Awesome signing for us and i am really really pleased about get the LoveSter back in Toon. Does he really want to play for us? I hope so and it seems so but i always have the sneaking suspicion that hes only here because of his wife…Hes under the cosh!!

either im happy hes here no doubt.

Apart from that though im really dissapointed so far. Newcastle have sold players all summer, Yet no bothered to get anyone really in to fill the gaps.

We WILL struggle this year for sure and that really really saddens me, I just pray that the ladss keep on going like they have been.

Right now im constantly checking all over the web for any news on more players in.

im sure you guys are too.

howay the lads and howay the might Toon Ultras

  • 9 Robson Wonderland // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:11 PM

Very happy with that, no one out and lovenkrands back in (no brainer) and a couple of loans on the horizon. Probably the most satisfied I’ve ever been on a deadline day.

  • 10 legends1892 // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:11 PM

    McLoven 3 yrs

It’s strange we are unbeaten in the League & Cups with a 2 point lead, but I feel depressed & not enthusisatic about the future for the Toon at all.

  • 19 will.dawg // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:17 PM

Really? That best not be it, if he’s all we have, good luck to us because we’ll need it.
He wasn’t as good as some people seem to think he was. In fact I remember when he left at the end of last season saying he’d love to join Sunderland…hmm.
    Another awful, disappointing summer.

  • 20 AlanSmith. // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:17 PM

actually quite a good bit of business, we keep a player that we had last season.. but have saved 3 months worth of wages..

  • 21 jettson1971 // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:17 PM

  • 24 NUFCmagpie // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:17 PM

At last a tiny bit of good news, aside from our current for of course, and hopefully there will be more good new throughout the day. I’m praying for at least 3 more signings.

    WE LOVE LOVENKRANDS!!

  • 25 toontown // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:18 PM

Sky Sports has just conformed that Peter has just signed for Newcastle, minutes before the deadline passed a few minutes ago.

I thought he was a free agent so could sign after the window closed??

  • 26 Stuart79 // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:18 PM

He’ll actually be the best player in the Championship.

Although I am still absolutely underwhelmed!

We still need about another 6 players.

  • 27 Ericles // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:19 PM

The signing of free agent Peter is not covered by deadline rules. As it stands, without further information, it looks like Ashley did not fork out to get anyone to bolster our paper thin squad. This must be the last straw from this sabotaging lying treacherous carpet bagger who sold players for his own selfish purposes and not in the long term interests of NUFC. Great to have Lovenkrands back but where are the other 5 or 6 reinforcements we needed? Sell up asap you gangster Ashley.

  • 28 cooldj // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:20 PM

come on 3 more players. please. just more and i’ll be happy :) or two and then another freebie over the next week?

  • 29 toonsy // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:20 PM

At least no other championship teams have considerably strengthened, small bonus i know!

  • 30 Stuart79 // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:22 PM

Ah well, back to the takeover I guess now.

  • 31 toonsy // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:22 PM

Take Man City out of the equation and i bet this is the quietest transfer window so far.

aaaaaaaaahhhh this is it. david craig

  • 34 Dan4Toon // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:24 PM

They were 2 other players, having medicals and they dont have to sign btween deadline so its okay about the other 2 loans

  • 35 boater // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:25 PM

McLoven in is a good bag. Looked decent in a death roll prem side last season so should be useful on the wings or up front as required. So that’s 12 out and 1 loanee/1 free in. Takes your breath away dunnit.

I am for one delighted we kept Colo – I think he was a lot better than people had him down for last season and should stroll it this season at the back…..

  • 36 nufc2009 // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:26 PM

david craig only takin bout sunderlabd

  • 38 simon376 // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:27 PM

So unless they havent been announced, no loans as I don’t think we can justify emergency loans as we have had so much time to do it.

The last time david craig mentioned us, he said 2 mysterious players doing medicals. This wasnt including lovenkrands. Cathcart and Gibson maybe’s.

  • 42 nufc1818 // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:29 PM

come on lads still time for loans
and be grateful we have managed to keep the quality players which we already have
i was thinking the majority of our first team would have gone and we would have a first team full of kids
    but that did not happen
    so cheer up!

  • 43 Eaststander // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:29 PM

We will have to hope he sells now. I think we might be ok up to january if we are lucky with injuries if we get some emergency loans. What wee all have to do now is hope that he sells up. If he says he is staying then we have to question wether we were ever up for sale at all. We need to know why we only up for sale in transfer windows? its starting to look very bad for this mug now if he takes us off the market agian.

  • 44 newcastle29 // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:30 PM

    Dan4Toon.

As far as i knew unless you are a free agent then you have to sign within the deadline, the window then shuts and 1 week later football league clubs can then start loan deals

  • 45 scottoon // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:33 PM

Glad to see Lovenkrands back! Bit o pace and class should be great in the fizzy pop! Hope for another announcement or two, think cathcart would be a good add. Best bit of business today is not losing anyone…specially Steve T!

Any latest news on the Americans?

YEAH BUT WE CAN SIGN PEOPLE ON EMERGANCY LOANS AND THEY WERE IN FOR MEDICAL’S AND WE WERE UNDER NO PRESURE TO GET THEM B4 DEADLINE, ITS BASICALLY A LOOP HOLE FOR LOANS! AND WE CAN SIGN THEM UNTIL NOVEMBER TIL JAN OR END OF SEASON SO ONE IS OBVIOUSLY CATHCART AND ?????

  • 49 cooldj // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:35 PM

thanks for the 606 article peops, if enough people read it the hopefully it’ll bring him down off of his high horse.

    Newcastle29:

This loan business is very confusing, if you check the Football League Rules it says loans can take place between July – December, but NUFC.com have had this clarified today which suggests that today is the last day for loans.

The problem may arise due to the Premier League and Football League having different rules for loans.

  • 51 Turkish Magpie // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:36 PM

can someone please explain the 2 loans situation please because i’ve heard and seen nothing about it

  • 52 Whumpie // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:37 PM

    Loverboy back… YAY!!

    Barton staying – ARSE BISCUITS!!

Ho hum. Can’t have it all, I spose.

  • 53 bill // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:37 PM

Emergency loans only cover things like running out of goalkeepers.

  • 54 Dragonera // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:37 PM

Very happy about this.We needed a pacey striker more than anything and we have got our man. No need for gelling as he will know all the players already. Nobody else has gone, which is the most important thing. Now we just need the two loan signings i predicted (LW/LB & CB) and everything would have gone as planned.

  • 55 newcastle29 // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:39 PM

    bill.

yeah bill it all seems to be a bit strange.

  • 56 daniel... // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:40 PM

quite optemistic again lads.. in my oppinion we now have the 3 best attacking players in the championship..

    loven
    jonas
and even though he looked a man off the other night barton.

we also have smith in the defensive role and another that did not have the best of games but can chip in with goals in guthrie.

the best center back partnership in taylor and the imensley unsettled collochini but he was a brilliant player for AC, Depor and the argies over the years and im confident he has shown he has the quality to be a great defender in a settled surrounding.. a full back on loan who has looked good the last few games and for me the best left back to play for newcastle over recent years and the best in the championship who plays better with jonas infront of him

also a keeper that i think with more games in his career would have been involved in the national set up

    harper
    simpson taylor collochini enrique
    guthrie smith barton jonas
    amiobi lovenkrands

if we keep the majority fit we can win the championship and we also have strong players who can come in with

    krul
    taylor
    nolan
    vukic etc etc

    what do you lads think?

  • 57 NickiesButt1000 // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:42 PM

WE NEED A CENTRE BACK DESPERATLEY!!! wings are okish for now but centre back is a priority! we have lovenkrands, jonas, lua lua, R Taylor, Guthrie that can all play wings but we need experience at the back!

  • 58 Dan4Toon // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:44 PM

    Owen
    Viduka
    Martins
    Bassong
    Beye
    Xisco
    Gonzalez
    Cacapa
    Edgar
    Duff
    Zamblera

    Simpson
    Lovenkrands
    LOAN SIGNING (2BC)
    LOAN SIGNING (2BC)
    Kadar
    Lualua
    Donaldson
    Vuckic
    Ranger

WITH THEM YOUNGSTERS AND THE 2 LOANS ITS JUST ABOUT EVEN REALLY!

  • 59 Stuart79 // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:44 PM

    Daniel

We have the best first eleven in the league, there is no doubt about that.

The unfortunate thing is though we will never get it out for more than 2 games on the trot.

    Our squad is ridiculously thin…

  • 60 bill // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:49 PM

    Check the rules for yourselves:

    http://www.football-league.co.uk/staticFiles/78/3/0,,10794~888,00.pdf

However, the clarification from the Football League today suggests that we cannot have any loans from the Premier League after today.

  • 61 Dragonera // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:52 PM

    Daniel & Stuart

I agree with both of you. Our starting 11 and subs bench is far superior to anything the rest of the Championship has. However, we do need a little bit more depth. A couple more players should be fine. Vuckic, Lua Lua and Ranger are all probably good enough to better what other Chamionship teams can bring out.

  • 62 daniel... // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:55 PM

yeh thats what i have been telling my mate aswell stuart. once the injuries kick in we will be in the proverbial. dont understand why we didnt put lovenkrands on hold untill later in the week and concentrate on the “other signings” before that

  • 63 scottoon // Sep 1, 2009 at 5:56 PM

Anybody really give a toss what the loan rules are? Seriously, if there are more announcements to be made they will be made. If not….then nothing to be done about it. I’m happy to see the side intact. Sitting tops…no one else going out…now if only we could get an announcement that the fat man is heading out it would be a great day!
