Newcastle Academy youngsters Paddy McLaughlin and Michael McCrudden, have both been called up to the Northern Ireland Under-19s squad for two friendlies this month.
Patrick McLaughlin – called up for Northern Ireland U19
Midfielder McLaughlin and striker McCrudden, who are both 18, are in the squad for two games in Malta on Monday September 14th and Wednesday the 16th.
It’s a first Under-19 call-up for McLaughlin, who has already been captain of the Northern Ireland U17 side, and played 20 times for them, while McCrudden receives his second under-19 call-up. Michael made his debut a year ago for the U19 side against Iceland.

The friendlies are the last games before manager Steve Beaglehole takes the under-19s into a hectic October, with European Championship qualifying matches against Bulgaria, Iceland and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Academy Director Richard Money and his staff are continuing to bring some good lads through the youth system, and it’s important because after all, it’s the future of the club.
Let’s hope the lads do well – and we’ll track how they do.
