Players Just Need To Get On With The Job At Newcastle

Andy Carroll has finally returned from injury and hopefully will be in the starting line-up a week on Sunday at Cardiff.

Andy Carroll – great team spirit

Even though Newcastle were one of the pre-season favorites for promotion this season, a lot of fans had no idea how they would perform in the second division, and it’s been a little bit of a surprise how well they’ve done so far – and looked good doing it too.

And of course we’ve also got that man Mike Ashley trying to sell the club for the last 3 months – with no success – so that’s almost 7 months he’s had the club up for sale over the last year. Pity he didn’t do something to help the club.

Carroll believes the squad has bonded in the face of adversity, with the common goal of getting back into the Premier League spurring them on, and it looks to us that the fans have done the same and will follow suit.

Andy said:

“We don’t what is happening with the club, all we need to do is stay together as players and work hard,”

“Whether or not it’s the cup or the league, we just want to keep winning. “We’ve got a group of lads here who just want to win football matches and take us back to the Premier League.”

“We’ll just get on with the job – we know what we are working with.”

Newcastle expect that the opposition will raise their game against them this season, much as Leicester City did last Monday evening.

Andy should return to the squad after a groin injury – and expects another tough test at new  The Cardif City Stadium.

Andy continued:

“Every team we have to play this season wants to make a name for themselves. That makes it extra tough.”

“We need to stick together as a squad. If we do that, we’ll keep picking up wins.”  “We know that every game is likely to be physical in the Championship.”

“All the games so far have been hard.”  “We know that we are going to have to work hard in every game.”

Carroll’s return is welcomed because of Ameobi’s unfortunate injury, and he may be out for two months with a broken foot. 🙁

Carroll knows losing Shola will be  a big loss but we do have lads like Nolan, Guthrie and Ryan Taylor stepping up and putting the ball in the back of the net these days.

Andy said:

“(Shola’s confidence was high after getting the goals, and it was working well between us.”

“(But) the side has been scoring goals in the Championship so everybody can be happy with that.”

“There’s a run of games coming up now in the Championship and the Carling Cup.” “I just have to take it all as it comes.”

Andy is a good and exciting player and we may even see the Ranger – Carroll partnership at some point in the game at Cardiff.

We need to win that game – no doubt about that.

Comments welcome.

cant wait till the cardiff game this is probly biggest game of season so far…be nice to get the 3 points and let cardiff break away from the pack i think west brom or nufc will be the 2 teams fighting for the championship as boro have lost probly there 2 best players and i dont really rate cardiff as soon as they lose chopra they will find it hard to find goals.i think ipswich will be a tough game for us, even if they are doing bad at the minute. pne and derby will be another couple of hard games but if we can past them we should easily win this league, probly topping the 100+ points mark.at the moment we are still looking at making 136 points providing we win every game lol…but to be honest that isnt adsactly impossible as long as we get in a few decent loan players as i think we deffinetly have the best midfield in the ccc, and our defence is very strong as we all have seen in the past 4 games,we got the best keeper in the league and the best back up keeper in tim krul, all we need to rely on is mcloven, carrol, strolla, and young ranger providing us with tons of goals. roll on the taffs in 9 days

I dont see any one beating us we have a premiership team which jst failed to deliver last season but all I can say is that we are better than most teams in the EPL with exception of Butt and Geremi, who will leave next season.
We are better than Hull, Portsmouth, Wolves, Stoke, Birmingham, Blackburn etc….
    First team:
    …………………….Harper
    Simpson……..S.Taylor……Colo………..Enrique
    Guthrie………Barton………..Smith………..Jonas
    ……………………Nolan
    …………………………………Lovenkrands

This team can get results in EPL finish 9th – 11th at most

I agree, injury free we have arguably the best starting 11 outside the prem, and arguably better than some in the prem. My main concern is goals, or lack of them. Carroll/Ranger would be fine but Ranger needs to use his pace whilst paired with Carroll, running onto flick ons etc and not do so much hold up play like he did against Leicester. For that reason i’d start with Carroll/Loven up front at Cardiff, carroll holding up and Loven running behind. Bring Ranger on at 60-70 mins to keep their defenders occupied and take Carroll of as he is just back from injury. Loven can then drop into midlfield to make it 5 man if needed.

    Toonsy-

I couldn’t agree more, m8. Bringin’ Ranger on after 60 minutes as an impact sub is a canny good idea. Talk about givin’ some knackered defenders somethin’ to think about… more like sh!t themselves about haha!

Like the versatility of having Lovenkrands able to drop back on the wing and then Guthrie can move to his natural CM position. Go to 4-5-1 like clockwork. Yep, I like your thinkin’, m8!!
