Andy Carroll has finally returned from injury and hopefully will be in the starting line-up a week on Sunday at Cardiff.
Andy Carroll – great team spirit
Even though Newcastle were one of the pre-season favorites for promotion this season, a lot of fans had no idea how they would perform in the second division, and it’s been a little bit of a surprise how well they’ve done so far – and looked good doing it too.
And of course we’ve also got that man Mike Ashley trying to sell the club for the last 3 months – with no success – so that’s almost 7 months he’s had the club up for sale over the last year. Pity he didn’t do something to help the club.
Carroll believes the squad has bonded in the face of adversity, with the common goal of getting back into the Premier League spurring them on, and it looks to us that the fans have done the same and will follow suit.
“We don’t what is happening with the club, all we need to do is stay together as players and work hard,”
“Whether or not it’s the cup or the league, we just want to keep winning. “We’ve got a group of lads here who just want to win football matches and take us back to the Premier League.”
“We’ll just get on with the job – we know what we are working with.”
Newcastle expect that the opposition will raise their game against them this season, much as Leicester City did last Monday evening.
Andy should return to the squad after a groin injury – and expects another tough test at new The Cardif City Stadium.
“Every team we have to play this season wants to make a name for themselves. That makes it extra tough.”
“We need to stick together as a squad. If we do that, we’ll keep picking up wins.” “We know that every game is likely to be physical in the Championship.”
“All the games so far have been hard.” “We know that we are going to have to work hard in every game.”
Carroll’s return is welcomed because of Ameobi’s unfortunate injury, and he may be out for two months with a broken foot. 🙁
Carroll knows losing Shola will be a big loss but we do have lads like Nolan, Guthrie and Ryan Taylor stepping up and putting the ball in the back of the net these days.
“(Shola’s confidence was high after getting the goals, and it was working well between us.”
“(But) the side has been scoring goals in the Championship so everybody can be happy with that.”
“There’s a run of games coming up now in the Championship and the Carling Cup.” “I just have to take it all as it comes.”
Andy is a good and exciting player and we may even see the Ranger – Carroll partnership at some point in the game at Cardiff.
We need to win that game – no doubt about that.
