Newcastle Takeover Talk So Stale – Let’s Get Promoted

As we have mentioned a lot recently, all this talk of takeover at Newcastle, with nothing much new being reveled over the last 4 weeks or so, is all getting rather stale on Tyneside.

After the news this weekend that a Moat sale was imminent, and then in the Journal this morning that a Moat sale is still way off – it’s all getting to be a joke.

We’ve also realized that the only important thing this season is not the sale, but the team winning and putting themselves in a position to get promoted at the very first attempt.

And if they can do that the Geordie support will be there in full flow, as we’ve already seen.

Hughton told the Evening Chronicle today:

“I can’t speak any more highly of the players.” “They’ve got used to daily reports that this or that will happen and then in reality, nothing happens.”

“What the players have done is get on with the job in hand. That’s been the important thing.”

“Amid everything that has gone on, they have focused on going into a new tough league that they didn’t know too much about and they have applied themselves to the task.”

The players and Chris have taken the lead on this – and Newcastle supporters will follow suit, because the only thing that’s important this season is promotion.  The takeover talk is just a diversion from what’s really important.

If we have to do it with Ashley still owner all season, then we will because we’ve learned from last year that the only thing that matters is the results on the field.

With such a terrific start this season, what we have to do now is maintain it, and hope that Ashley’s sale of the club will not get in the way of the players’ morale or the results on the field.

But as time goes on  it looks like we could really do it this season.

Geordie-Gerrard7 – your easy pleased but if that floats your boat, good for you, nice cheap option rolling over mediocre teams, in cricket they call it flat track bullying.
Back to the headline Ed, promotion all well and good, may well be achievable with a threadbare squad and i will be well chuffed if we get back up, but then what?

Exactly! Is there any point in getting promoted just to get relegated again. cos we sure won’t get sufficient investment to make keep us in the Premiership

AS IF ASHLEY WAS EVER GOING TO SELL ANYWAY, WONDER HOW MUCH HE PAID MOAT TO PRETEND HE WAS TRYING TO BUY THE CLUB? JUST SO HE DID’NT HAVE TO SIGN ANYONE DURING THE TRANSFER WINDOW? THATS EXACTLY WHAT THIS UP FOR SALE THINGS ALL ABOUT, NEXT FEW WEEKS HE’LL COME OUT SAYING THE CLUBS NOT FOR SALE
