Surprise As Carroll Misses Cardiff Game

A little bit of a surprise today as Andy Carroll will not be fit for the vital game at Cardiff on Sunday.

Andy Carroll – may be fir for Wednesday at Blackpool
Newcastle manager Chris Hughton explained:

“Andy has not quite made it for Cardiff.

“But we’re very hopeful he’ll be OK for Wednesday at Blackpool.”

This is surprising but it seems that Andy is not a quick healer and keeps getting these niggly little injuries that keep him out for a string of games.

Even more reason we need an experienced striker in the squad before too long.

We expect 18 year-old Nile Ranger to start with Kevin Nolan in a wothdrawn striker role, we played against Liecester City.

fair enough, makes room for butt/taylor in midfield. Probably rather Nolan up front with Nile anyway, bit more experience and in all honesty I don’t especially rate Carrol too highly anyway. I keep thinking Cardiff have what it takes to easily beat us and that this is gonna be a really really tough match, but our first team squad at championship level is absolutely ridiculous. Player for player we either match or better them, should be an interesting game

i dont expect to get any thing from this game now , with our paper thin squad ,and not getting any loan players , it was only a matter of time before we started to struggle a o o draw would be a gteat result

Hello there. Cardiff fan here. Credit where it’s due, this is one of the most thorough and comprehensive football websites I’ve come across, let alone blog! I’ll definitely be giving it a read throughout the season. Keep up the good work. Anyway, here’s my (kinda) take on the game: http://cardiff.theoffside.com/cardiff-city-news/how-the-miners-can-overcome-the-messiahs.html

I on the other hand expect us to win and will be surprised if we don’t, home games are in any event the key to winning this league so I wouldn’t be too dissapointed with a draw.

carroll has still only played a few first team matches and never been a consistant started, he should be judged after getting a good full season under his belt still a young 1,

Stuart we’re not in the premier league anymore, this game isn’t going to be as hard as you think. Granted, it’s gonna be tough but I wouldn’t be ecstatic with a 0-0 result, more quietly satisfied. I’m hoping for a win, we drew away to better opposition on the first day of the season under far more trying circumstances and now that we’re on a roll the team will know that beating other promotion hopefulls will send morale through the roof. A touch of optimism is in order for Sunday I think

Nimo I definitely would have played him ahead of Ameobi as well last season. I’m not writing him off by any means, would just rather see Nolan up there for Sunday

Yeah I guess this settles it with Nolan and Ranger upfront- possibly a runout fro Loven in the second half. Probably R-Taylor- Guthrie-Butt-Barton in midfield. Goals will be tough to come by

Should be soem good streams available for those of us overseas as I beleive the match is being shown live in England.

I wouldnt bet against Lovenkrands starting…non of the media know just how fit he is, and if he’s fit why wouldnt he start??

I’d like to see Vuckic get to play the role behind Ranger at some point in the match. 😀

normally i wouldnt be ecstatic with a oo draw but with our lack of attacking options and the fact that i personally think we could be on the back footfor long periods ,given they are at home and they will be up for this game, because they are playing nufc i think our defence will have a tough time on sunday , but good enough too hold out , maybe we can just sneak a cheeky win m8 i hope so
