great result today….defence is coping superbly especially gainst s free scorin side!!! wont have many performances as lackin goin forward as that but we did what was required….fantastic!!!

sorry to bring him up but JFK was on irish radio today….and that man spouts some absolute crap!!! first of all he claimed to be still involved in the club and went on to sh#te on about how he was offered job…is fit….bin goin to games….ready for job…etc etc etc!!! idiot and such a compulsive liar!! then further on in the interview he stuck his foot in it when he said he wasnt currently involved at the club…. also said he doesn no what will happen now as the club could already be sold(tho im as likely to believe him as llambias/ashley) and basically admitted that due to the good start he prob wont be coming in!!! thank god
also says hes bin in talks with loads of clubs….yea im sure….anyones sunday league team been onto him about management??

Buddy – JFK talks more in riddles than anything else but amongst it all will be some truths and when he says the club has been sold, this is in line with several other snippets in the past few days that an agreement has been reached.
Fingers crossed, would be brilliant to get two or three fresh players in to add to what we have got and then if we are doing well by Xmas, start buying for the step back up.

no mag i dont think they would!!

bob…your prob right!! he is obviously in contact with somebody at the club and i did find him saying that quite interesting….its just if its one thing i cannot stand..its lies….and he cannot help himself!!!

he also started talkin about the international scene and when he got onto england…he started saying us…..now THAT infuriates me as he is an ireland international and probably claimed to be die hard irish when it suits him…..delighted he is no longer involved

Wasnt the prettiest win today but a fantastic result none the less. I said before the game i’d be happy with a point. We’ve went to a team who hadnt lost at home since they moved in and we’ve managed to grind out a 1-0 win whilst defending excellently in the process. Smith will be missed midweek but we couldnt argue with the sending off. The ref had warned him on numerous occasions (once for a challenge going in studs up-probably warranted a yellow) and the first i with was down to a culmination of previous offences. The second could not be argued with, he went in hard to win the ball as he always does and its mistimed, no complaints sadly.
Thought Colo was excellent today and i havent said that much in the past. He defended excellently at times and pretty much made the goal he scored, fair play to him. Enjoyed the performance from our entire back four if im honest. Like i said, it wasnt the most attractive 1-0 win but at the end of the day that was one of the hardest games of our season and we’ve came away with 3 points, you can’t ask for any more than that.

Great 3 points – great result, very tenacious!! howevr my biggest worry is lack of goals, i worry that we do not have the 25 goal a season striker needed for this league! unless 3 or 4 can score 10-15 each, we cant rely on clean sheets, we have to score more and kill games off! roll on blackpool for a game which i think will be very difficult

I see WBA and boro play on tuesday, so we could be knocked off the top again b4 we play blackpool. No pressure or anything! If results go our way tho, we could be 4/5 points clear on Wed night.

How is it going? I take it you are happy about the result then, haha. It’s good to break the hearts of the scumbag press that wanted so badly for us to be another Leeds. Unlucky for them eh? haha

A bit off topic, but has anyone had the chance to play the new FIFA 10 game yet? If so, what is it like?

just got back from the match, wasnt the best but i never felt like we were gonna let any thing in which was great. The cardiff support was great i thought, and there was a cool moment when we were chanting for sir bob and the cardiff support clapped in recognition. Overall a good win at a difficult place! Happy days! top of the table 🙂

Its not just a striker we need, but the age old problem of supply. Decent wingers and a mf general with vision would help.

Dragonera-i was just about to ask the same question RE fifa 10! haha. I’ve downloaded the demo on ps3. Alot of people i know claim they dont notice many differences to 09, i do however. The whole game plays slightly smoother. The passing is slightly quicker-not the speed of the game, just the speed the ball travels, its all a bit sharper. Competition between defenders and attackers is improved also. You can go shoulder to shoulder now and there will be times that yes, shock horror, you take the ball from the likes of Messi-something you just didnt see in 09 (not a chance you were pushing Ronaldo off the ball)..shooting is a little tougher, through balls a little tougher..all in all, an improvement for me. that 360 dribbling is good also, you find gaps in back fours that just werent available to run into before.

(sorry for the essay, lol). As for the win, yes, im over the moon. Like i said, i’d have taken a point and i was nervous before KO. A massive confidence boost to come away with 3 points. It’s weird watching us. Teams dont get many chances on goal, its a complete turn around from last year lol

Maybe just maybe its the begining of a fantastic week . KK will hear this week if he will get the 8 million he wants or not . i just have a gut feeling that if he gets nothing then a deal will be done for the sale of the club . Any new owner does not want to be paying the 8 million and if Ashley does not have to pay it then maybe a deal will be done for around 92 million for the club instead of the 100 million . Just a feeling . Any way another 3 points against Blackpool then a full house against Plymouth and watch us score big .

Dragonera-like i said, the whole thing runs a little smoother. The gameplay itself hasnt got quicker, just the travel of the ball. Simply passing the ball across the midfield from a to b for example, its all just a bit sharper.
The 360 dribbling control actually works. You can now find gaps inbetween the back four that just wouldnt have been physically possible in 09. It’s a case of the player you’re controlling, going exactly where you tell him to-which i like.
Shooting has changed slightly. Its not AS easy to hit the target. Placing the ball requires a little more skill, rather than just holding R1 and shooting. If you’re 15-20 yards out and you dont get it right, it will bobble to the GK, or sky over the bar. you’re not gonna tap shoot and force a save to win a corner time and time again. In saying that, get it right from outside the box and its rewarding, you’ll hit the target or score, something which was pretty rare in 09 unless you were shooting with the likes of Rooney or Ronaldo.
Defender/Striker battles better also. You can be in on goal and if the striker in question is stronger/and or running at greater pace than the defender, he’ll beat him shoulder to shoulder. Just in the same way as if the defender is alot stronger than the striker or the striker is starting flat footed, chances are you’ll take the ball from him. The through ball over the top has been tweaked slightly aswell. You’re not gonna clip it over the top perfectly for the striker to run onto. Its alot harder to get right. Chances are it will be played into space and its a foot race between the defender/attacker to get there. Until you work it all out and get good at it that is,lol

Cheers for the essay, mate. I was just asking for a run down of the game as you posted. Looks like we are reading each others minds today.

What are your thoughts ahead of the Pool game? They have come off of a defeat, us off of an impressive win. Despite Blackpool being quite handy at home, I think we should be settling for nothing less than three points come wednesday.

Reckon we will see Vuckic if we bag a couple of early goals against Blackpool? I hope so.

Also, is anyone relishing the prospect of NUFC being the team to get Keano the sack? I hope and pray 😀

Dragonera-again, away from home, injuries-i’d settle for a point. I’m not in the same mind set as i was RE today though, i definitly think 3 points are obtainable. We’re flying high at the minute and although teams will be determined to cut us down, i think they’ll all be slightly apprehensive also-been a long time since i’ve been able to say that!

Also RE the whole keano situation-i’d love us to give them a good thumping and put even more pressure on him. I just wish we got them at home first, and Wor Al was in the home dug out. No disrespect to Hughton of course, for the amusement factor entirely.

Imagine us being 3-0 up say after 85 mins. Shearer with a wry smile on his face on the touchline, Keano cutting a glum figure just feet away as 40,000+ belt out “Keano! He w@nks his dog, keano, he w@nks his dog keano”..priceless!

Been looing through all the posts to see if anybody can answer this one, but haven’t seen anything. Is it not the case that it takes 7 days for a ban to kick in? If that is the case, Smith would be able to play n the next two games, Wed & Sat as today is Sunday, or is that just the case for a straight red?

Not too sure. I would much prefer he sat out the Ipswich game rather than the Blackpool one as Ipswich look a dreadful side with Keano at the helm.

Also, good to see Duff scoring for Fulham. Wasn’t my favourite player, but he has class and is no Adebayor.

Plymouth are a footballing side like Cardiff so the same tactics we had today should be put into practise. Choc-a-bloc the midfield and force them into long ball nonsense. What you think?

Dragonera I too am a massive Fifa advocate. Oct 2nd is the release date for 360 I think, can’t actually wait. My Toon team on 09 was hilarious by the end, Messi and Martins up front, Jesus Navas on the right Ribery on the left, Sneijder and Kaka in the middle, Stevie Taylor captain centre back with Pepe, Evra left back, Danni Alves right back and Given between the sticks. Haha
