Danny Simpson – Made To Measure For Newcastle United

It’s really hard not to have impressed with both the play and the character and commitment of 22 year-old right-back Danny Simpson, who is on loan from Manchester United, until January 1st.

Danny Simpson – made to measure for Newcastle

Danny talked today about Newcastle’s coaches Chris Hughton and Colin Calderwood:

“Chris and Colin Calderwood have fed us all of the information we need about each player and what they will try to do to us.”

“That’s what we have been doing all season.” “We’ve been taking the information on board and, coupled with the ability we have already, it has been enough to get some excellent results.”

“Now we aim to keep it up at Blackpool.”

The Seasiders Manager Holloway, who has vast management experience at Bristol Rovers, QPR,  Plymouth Argyle, Leicester City and now Blackpool, has the ability to get everything out of his players, which is always the sign of a very good coach, and Blackpool go into the game hungry for points.

Simpson continued:

“We won’t give up our place at the top without a fight.” “We knew going into Cardiff that the likes of West Brom and Middlesbrough have picked up wins.”

“We had to come out and get the three points, and it’s the same for Blackpool.” “We’re not going let anybody beat us and we will not roll over for anybody.”

“The only people who can beat us are ourselves.” “Every game we have our team meetings and we talk to each other – nothing is allowed to bubble away beneath the surface.”

“We do not want teams to beat us, it is not a nice feeling.” “While we have the momentum we aim to keep it.”

If everything goes well through the end of the year, and we can maintain a good promotion push, and a decent and committed new owner comes in, it may be possible to start thinking a wee bit longer term.

One of those moves would be to bring Danny to the club on a permanent basis come January.

Not only has the lad showed he can become a class player, and has helped us forget that we lost a great right back in the very impressiveve Habib Beye (who surprisingly lost his place at right back at Aston Villa to former Newcastle target and Rangers’ player Carlos Ceullar), who just got fed up, like the great Shay Given before him, of the stupid antics of the owner.

Danny is also personally a class act – and he has made it abundantly clear he wants to stay at Newcastle, who seems to treat fans and players alike like serfs.

These are the players we now need at the club and in the future, and it has been proven beyond any doubt  this season, if you want fight and passion in the team, these are the players you need, and nobody else.

Comments welcome.

faultless attitude in the press and on the pitch. I have been impressed with him as of late. Seems a good investment.

Same here he has done really well and seems to be one of the lads, allways there to pat harper on the back to say well done or to celebrate a goal with his team mates.

Impressive youngster who has managed to ease the loss of Beye. Hope he stays beyond January 1st., because he seems like a good young defender.

Simpson seems to really enjoying his life on Tyneside and he sounds like the sort of player we really should make an effort to sign in January (yes there’ll be a fee Mr Ashley, sorry) before he really excels and is tempted by another club.

It’s good that Simpson’s singing the praises of Hughton and Calderwood in that the players appear to be well briefed on the opposition etc – a far cry from JFK it seems.

It also appears that the players are actually united and are talking to oneanother through regular team meetings.

The CH and CC duo seem to be employing text-book good management skills and yes it’s early days, but carry on the way they are and with support in the form of players coming in, then things can only get better and better.

Keep it up lads – we’re all behind you.

I would bet that we don’t keep him, either the fee will be too much or ManU will want him back.
One of the best loanees from ManU that we also didn’t keep was Rossi, although he didn’t get much pitch time from him. Any thoughts on others?

He reminds me (in a good way) of Stephen Carr, or at least what I had hope’d SC would be like before he discovered the pies.

Strong, no nonsense RB who likes to push on and put a decent cross over.

    Agree with Bill F though

wi’ any luck manure will be in administration come xmas and they’ll be liquidating all assets. 😉

Agree with Bill, if he is looking solid doubt fergi will let ’em go unless the price is right. I’m not sure how deep MUFC are at RB.
