Players Dedicated To Bringing Glory Back To Tyneside

Chris Hughton seems to be enjoying his boys being the leaders of the Championship, just like the rest of us among the many thousands of Newcastle daft fans who are spread around the world.

Chris Hughton – on receiving his CCC Manager Of The Month Award
How many more can he get this season?  Lots we hope

Gentleman Chris, who will soon be in danger of becoming a folk-hero on Tyneside, if he’s not careful, told Newcastle United TV today:

“We’re delighted to be back top after what was a very tough game at Cardiff,”  “Playing a day later means you can have an aim or a target and we were able to get the win to go top.”

“We could have to do the same on Wednesday and we’ve now switched our thoughts to that game.” “We’ve got a great result at Cardiff but going to Blackpool is another big test.”

“They’ve got a new manager and some good players and again we know we’ll be a scalp for them.”  “That’s why we have to make sure our application is exactly the same again and look to get a result.”

One thing (and there are others) we are starting to really like about Chris (and Colin Calderwood) is their ability to keep the lads focused completely on winning each game, and not get carried away with their early success.

That is helped by the fact that most of the lads, behind the scenes, are ashamed of what happened last season and only too aware they are the first line that gets hit with the most criticism for what happened last season.

But lads like Harper, Krul, Smith, Steven Taylor, Coloccini (yes Fabricio – after we slammed the lad over the summer), Enrique (this guts and glory lad is staying on Tyneside for years to come), Guthrie, Nolan, Ameobi, Ranger and others, epitomize what it should be like to play for a team as famous around the world as Newcastle – The Fighting Magpies!

Quite honesty it’s feast or famine at the Newcastle club, and always has been.

And after these players blackened the name of the Newcastle club earlier this year, that culminated in relegation last May, they have now decided they are the ones who will bring the glory back to Newcastle.

And after they have truly committed to that, and the evidence is looking like they have, it probably doesn’t take too much for Chris and Colin to keep them motivated – it even seems the player committee of  Harper, Butt, Barton, Nolan and Smith does that for them.

And that’s only one reason the lads are so together  – and boy does it show on the pitch.

We cannot remember the club and the team getting so many plaudits from the opposition as  we did from the Cardiff City press after Sunday’s game.

It started to remind us of just how proud we all are of our club again, and that feeling is extra good this season, after the disaster and nightmare that we all went through last season.

All Newcastle fans know just exactly what we mean by that – and long may it continue.

Howay The Lads – we can do it!!

You would certainly hope they are focussed on winning, wouldn’t be much point in them playing otherwise.

Just as a matter of interest how many points are needed to avoid relegation, are we there yet. 🙂 Or altertnativley can we garner enough to be certain of promotion by the new year. I prefer the last possibilty. 🙂

GG7-i didnt realise he’d been sacked due to “poor league results”

…they’re two games in, 1 won, 1 drawn. I’d be slightly dubious of said reason if i was him, lol

Gawd lummy…. is a large bottle of Coke all he got for Manager of the Month?

Following on frm the article and GG7’s post, the Chron’s got a good article in their using Danny Simpson as the vehicle and he says he’s really enjoying his life on Tyneside…. so far.

He really sounds like a lad to make an effort to sign in January (yes there’ll be a fee Mr Ashley, sorry) before he really excels and is tempted by another club.

And, in addition to enjoying life with us, Simpson’s really singing the praises of Hughton and Calderwood in that the players appear to be well briefed on the opposition etc – a far cry from JFK it seems.

It also appears that the players are actually united and are talking to oneanother through regular team meetings.

The CH and CC duo seem to be employing text-book good management skills and yes it’s early days, but carry on the way they are and with support in the form of players coming in, then things can only get better and better.

    Keep it up fellas!

I hope i am wrong though, i would love two ugly, lucky wins and two cleansheets. 🙂

…Aren’t a bunch of them playin’ tonight?..

A lot of the top teams seem to go through a winning “Ugly” period and then as confidence blossoms they metamorposize in attractive teams, our turn now?

I can’t stand Adebayor. The man has no class whatsoever. How can you stamp on your former teammates face at the first opportunity and then celebrate to your former fans like that. Disgraceful player that symbolizes everything that is wrong with football.

I think KK should do one. He quit so he deserves nothing a fraction of what he is claiming. I can’t believe his complete disregard for our club. It is ultimately us that will suffer as MA will probably add whatever KK gets to his total asking price. People say he loves NUFC, but he doesn’t love this club. KK loves one thing, himself.

FIFA rules are a joke. They still allow teams to be filled 100% with foreigners. There is too much value in top class foreigners joining the Premier League for them to ever put a stop to it. It is an almost non existent rule implemented to keep certain people smiling. Much like Obama’s appointment, but that is a whole other story eh? Le t’s keep it NUFC, haha.

agree totally with that mate, Ho’way!..
…Nice word btw!.. 🙂 Just look at how the gooners used to play, compared with now!..

    …Dragonera,
Coldn’t agree more if i tried mate…No wonder arse got rid, huh?..
…Livin’ here in gooner territory, most wanted shot of him a year ago, tells ya’ everythin’ there!..What gets me is how the ref ‘didn’t see it?..No way!..
…The refs are runnin’ scared of the rich!..

…KK…Oh! what a tangled web we weave, when 1st we learn to deceive!..
…Again, i tend to agree!..If he loved NUFC he’d call it off!..Obviously, we don’t know what really happened & may never know the truth!..But, it’s gonna hurt us, either financially or PR wise, either way we get our teeth bust, don’t we?..
…All our recent good work gets a big crimp on it, just when it was goin’ quiet on the press front…More fuel for the rags to burn us with!..Sigh!..

…fifa etc. Fools & damned fools…They should put some effort into changin’ rules to clean up the game it’s self, not tinker with freedom of movment, if they wanna do somethin’ useful, try wage cappin’ or scrappin’ horse tradin’, gettin’ tough on cheatin’/divin’ & stop kow-towin’ to the usual suspects!..
…Ah!..That’s got that off of me chest!..
    🙂

hi lads first comment here, as an irish paddy season ticket holder it was horrifying as to the amount of money i wasted last year taking trips over. I am happy with the exit of every single player that we have lost apart from given as i think that these are the players that brought us down. Each and everyone of them contributed to the downfall of newcastle united. A gang of children on the street would play with more passion than what I saw last year. Chris hughton has a deplorable record as manager up to this year but what he has now in the dressing room is a team of players that are playing for there own prideif nothing else. This current team would not have been relegated. Current results says alot about the players who left. By the way most irish people are shocked beyond belief that owen got another chance at a big club. Fair play to capello he can see through him. This is why England have failed in the past but have a great chance this world cup. No more jobs for the boys.
