We have ran a poll over the last 24 hours to try to gauge the feelings of Newcastle supporters (or more accurately those supporters who read this blog), over the current Tribunal between Kevin Keegan and Newcastle United.
Kevin Keegan – his action not supported by Geordie fans
With 416 votes cast over the last day or so, 72% do not support Keegan in the actions he has taken.
The question asked was Do You Support Kevin Keegan In His Action Against Newcastle United?
72% have said NO
28% have said YES.
Kevin is suing Newcastle for 3 years in salary and £1M in court costs, for constructive dismisal last September.
We understand Kevin was getting around £3M/year at the club, so that’s around £10M in total he’s claiming.
A special Premier League Tribunal is meeting this week to hear the facts from both sides, and then presumably decide on an amount of compensation that would be suitable for Keegan – if any.
We understand both sides have agreed to accept the judgement of the Tribunal.
The Newcastle United club is counter-suing Kevin for £2M for breach of contract, since they contend he walked out on the club.
The poll will be open until the end of the game at Blackpool tonight.

Comment #41Whilst its hard without the full facts.
Here is one.
Keegan’s Soccer Circus has been a huge flop and cost him a lot of money.
I believe his actions to be motivated by money not the wellbeing of NUFC. I think u will find Peter Beardsley would back me on this.
If he had wanted to stay, he would have done. He would have fought his corner and made Ashley hugely uncomfortable. It wasn’t what he wanted. He went for the wedge.

Comment #43Ed, this is quite unprofessional.
1) this is a loaded question. Keegan vs NEWCASTLE UNITED? It’s Keegan vs Ashley. When you pose the question as you did, of course everybody is going to side with their club. If your own opinion was the reverse (of what you make no secret of hiding), you would probably have posed it as ‘poor Keegan vs EVIL CASHLEY’.
The way this debate is being framed on this blog is really “Keegan vs Club’s funds for potential signings”… which of course any fan of the club is going to side with the later.
Make no mistake about it lads.. maybe Keegan’s compensation demands are disagreeable, but that doesn’t mean his POSITION is in the wrong. Please think clearly.

I’m not a close friend of Pedro, but have spoken to him on some occasions. He isn’t into stabbing his fellow pros.

Comment #47“Keegan vs Club’s funds for potential signings”
Ha ha what signings 😆
Even in the prem he (the owner) neglected the first squad by selling certain players and not replacing them.
How about Milner as an example, apparantly KK only agreed to let him go as he thought Wise had already arranged cover but as it happened he hadn’t even got in touch with this other player that KK wanted but told KK he was unavailable or unwilling to join NUFC.
Paper talk I know but hopefully some of the truth will come out after this week and I hope to hell KK doesn’t sign a non disclosure agreement!

Comment #49Billy, PB has been most vocal in his disappointment of KK on the after dinner circuit.
On numerous occasions he has stated that in his opinion Keegan knew and understood his role at NUFC under Ashley, where Wise fitted in etc etc.
PB backs Ashley on this. True Faith slagged him off a few months back for taking this stance.

Comment #50The independent arbitration hearing convened to settle the dispute between Kevin Keegan and Mike Ashley over the former’s departure from Newcastle United a year ago is now into its second day. I hope Keegan wins for the sake of football and the right of a manager to manage. However I feel that your poll has distorted the view. Had you asked
Do You Support Kevin Keegan In His Action Against Ashley?, then I think the percentages would have reversed!

“You may be too young to remember Bobby, but Keegan was good in the 80’s also. Choosing to even come here in the first place from Southampton (as England captain) is one of life’s mysteries.”
It was no mystery Billy, it was his financial package, including a percentage of gate receipts.

Comment #55Sorry- I’m with the 70% – and I haven’t voted.
I wasn’t happy with the Wise appointment – but I can also remember defending Keegan from the sneers from my workmates (Mancs) when they told me he’d walked out. “Oh. it’ll get sorted and blow over” I said. “He wouldn’t leave us in the lurch”.
But he did.
And if he luvs this club, then why is he asking for £8 million? Surely if you take £8 million out of the accounts, it’s going to be bad for the Club? Would a mere £2million claim not have allowed it to be settled without pots of money being wasted on legal fees also.
L was a huge fan of Keegan – but legend, star, messiah, whatever – HE IS WRONG this time!

Comment #56When it comes to the Keegan dispute, we have to try and ignore the amount of money, even though that will be so hard. Players & managers get paid stupid money and that’s just the way it is. I would hope that if anyone of us had a problem at work and were unfairly dismissed or wrongly sacked, we would all hope that whoever it was would get as much as they possibly can out of the company who wronged them. This is just the same with Keegan, he was wronged (though thats my view and maybe need the full facts) and if he is proved right, he of course should get the money owed to him. Just a shame that these guys don’t get the same kind of money as us. If they did, I’m sure it would be more like 100% backing him.
Changing the subject, are you about O’Hurley? I know ou said a couple of days ago, there is an app for watching games on an iPhone, can you give the info again please?

Comment #61Stardust, I’m sayin £10m is stupid money, but thats what these guys get paid. If he is owed his contract and that’s £10m, so be it. I may hav family who are ex footballers, but I still think what they get paid is stupid, but as fans we just have to go along with it. I suppose if we didn’t go or pay tv subs, they wouldn’t get paid that much, but then thats cutting our nose to spite our face I suppose.

Comment #72a lot on hear seem to live on a different planet, just look at the way Ashley has treated Keegan, shearer, against the way hes treated Kinnear & wise, still getting paid £20,000 a week by Ashley, even though he never purchased 1 single player good enough for the premier. everyone’s entitled to there opinion. to me it looks like Ashley only like people who are prepared to lodge there tongue far up his but, & nothing to do with doing the job they are their to do. just wait till he brings Kinnear back.

Comment #73Keegan walked because fat Ash used his name to sell shirts and tear the club apart.
Keegan is the only one who hasn’t been in the press and kept some dignity during all this. All press so far has been one sided.
Why are the fans who were chanting for Keegan after he walked now turning on him without hearing a word of his defence?????????

Comment #74anyone who says KK is taking money away from transfer funds is partially right but the truth is that ashley could put quite a lot of money into the playing side of the club but for whatever reason he has refused to do that.also if it turns out that he lied to KK over the running of the playing side then I support KK 100%.

Comment #76Police Complaint – just brilliant!
This is a genuine complaint to Devon & Cornwall Police Force from an angry member of the public
A true email sent to the force, lengthy but brilliantly written…..
————–
Dear Sir/Madam/Automated telephone answering service,
Having spent the past twenty minutes waiting for someone at Bodmin police station to pick up a telephone, I have decided to abandon the idea – and try e-mailing you instead.
Perhaps you would be so kind as to pass this message on to your colleagues in Bodmin, by means of smoke signal, carrier pigeon or Ouija board.
As I’m writing this e-mail there are eleven failed medical experiments (I think you call them youths) in St Mary’s Crescent, which is just off St Mary’s Road in Bodmin.
Six of them seem happy enough to play a game which involves kicking a football against an iron gate with the force of a meteorite. This causes an earth shattering CLANG! which rings throughout the entire building.
This game is now in its third week and as I am unsure how the scoring system works, I have no idea if it will end any time soon.
The remaining five failed-abortions are happily rummaging through several bags of rubbish and items of furniture that someone has so thoughtfully dumped beside the wheelie bins. One of them has found a saw and is setting about a discarded chair like a beaver on ecstasy pills.
I fear that it’s only a matter of time before they turn their limited attention to the caravan gas bottle that is lying on its side between the two bins.
If they could be relied on to only blow their own arms and legs off then I would happily leave them to it. I would even go so far as to lend them the matches.
Unfortunately they are far more likely to blow up half the street with them and I’ve just finished decorating the kitchen.
What I suggest is this – after replying to this e-mail with worthless assurances that the matter is being looked into and will be dealt with, why not leave it until the one night of the year (probably bath night) when there are no mutants around then drive up the street in a Panda car before doing a three point turn and disappearing again. This will of course serve no other purpose than to remind us what policemen actually look like.
I trust that when I take a claw hammer to the skull of one of these throwbacks you’ll do me the same courtesy of giving me a four month head start before coming to arrest me.
I remain your obedient servant
Huh?Huh??
———————————————————————
Mr Huh?Huh?,
I have read your e-mail and understand your frustration at the problems caused by youths playing in the area and the problems you have encountered in trying to contact the police.
As the Community Beat Officer for your street I would like to extend an offer of discussing the matter fully with you.
Should you wish to discuss the matter, please provide contact details (address / telephone number) and when may be suitable.
Regards
PC Huh?Huh??
Community Beat Officer
———————————————————————
Dear PC Huh?Huh??
First of all I would like to thank you for the speedy response to my original e-mail.
16 hours and 38 minutes must be a personal record for Bodmin Police Station, and rest assured that I will forward these details to Norris McWhirter for inclusion in his next Guinness book.
Secondly I was delighted to hear that our street has its own Community Beat Officer.
May I be the first to congratulate you on your covert skills? In the five or so years I have lived in St Mary’s Crescent , I have never seen you. Do you hide up a tree or have you gone deep undercover and infiltrated the gang itself? Are you the one with the acne and the moustache on his forehead or the one with a chin like a wash hand basin? It’s surely only a matter of time before you are head-hunted by MI5 to look for Osama.
Whilst I realise that there may be far more serious crimes taking place in Bodmin, such as smoking in a public place or being Christian without due care and attention, is it too much to ask for a policeman to explain (using words of no more than two syllables at a time) to these tw*ts that they might want to play their strange football game elsewhere.
The pitch on Fairpark Road , or the one at Priory Park are both within spitting distance as is the bottom of the Par Dock, the latter being the preferred option especially if the tide is in.
Should you wish to discuss these matters further you should feel free to contact me on . If after 25 minutes I have still failed to answer, I’ll buy you a large one in the Cat and Fiddle Pub.
Regards
Huh?Huh?Huh?
P.S If you think that this is sarcasm, think yourself lucky that you don’t work for the sewerage department with whom I am also in contact !!!

Comment #80Why are people taking it as an attack against the fans?
Why are you all crying about the money it will cost MA?
Do you REALLY think that the money would be spent on the team ffs?
GET A GRIP.
There are rules and regulations for EVERYONE to follow in employment. If MA doesn’t abide by them, what choice is there? It’s pretty obvious the blokes a bit of a **** to work for.
Just because KK had the balls to tell him “F-this,I’m not putting up with you taking the p*ss,you’re gonna get what’s due fatty” people are giving him grief.
Whatever financial penalties MA has to endure, then tough.
If you’re daft enough to think that it would be denying the team funds then where the funk have you been the last 2 years?
People who think it will be detrimental to the club finances should pop along to St.Nicks.
