Peter Lovenkrands Just Raring To Go

Peter Lovenkrands is ready to help get Newcastle United back to the top tier at the first attempt, and he says he is just champing at the bit.

Peter Lovenkrands – raring to go

The Danish International said today:

“It is up to Chris and Colin whether they want me to start – I will be happy just to be involved.”

“I know I will have my time to get in from the start.” “I will have to wait and see what happens.”

Lovenkrands will likely get at least another 30 minute run out tonight, like he did on Sunday at Cardiff, and we have to think there are a lot of goals that can come from the Dane this season, he is so classy close to goal.

And Newcastle have sent Ameobi away for a short break to get away from things, with his foot injury now expected to rule him out for up to two months, and obviously Shola is very unhappy with this.

He showed the best form of his career at Newcastle in the opening games, when he was almost unplayable – and of course he won the Coca Cola Championship Player of the Month Award for August.

Lovenkrands can also operate on either wing which is another reason this free signing was an excellent capture.

Peter continued:

“In training I am playing as a striker.” “We have Jonas Gutierrez coming back, so he can go on the wing.”

“We have great wingers, and up front we have some injuries, so I hope I can get more time up front.”

“With the players we have, it will be great to be up there – it is a very exciting line-up on paper.”

We’d be surprised if Peter starts tonight, but with Gutierrez due back soon, and Peter shortly match fit, and a couple of new loan signings – Chris will have some selection problems soon – and that’s always good.

Comments welcome.

With a bit of luck it wont take him long to get match fit. From what I have seen of this division I think he will rip it up in terms of goals.

I have to say, given the fact that Smith is banned, and Nicky Butt is lacking in pace / fitness and that Joey Barton is never going to be great on the wing, I find myself tempted to say I agree with the selection put forward by Dennis Twice. My only ammendment would be to put Geremi on instead of butt, and switch positions with him and Barton. It wouldn’t be ideal with a fit squad, but with what we have available tonight, it could just be worth a tickle.

OY: Cheeky Boro (sorry if already posted)…

“A three-month loan deal has been agreed that will see Folan formally join Middlesbrough on Friday.

Middlesbrough have delayed the 93-day loan deal – the maximum allowed – until Friday to allow Folan to be eligible to face promotion” rivals Newcastle on December 19.

Agreed about Lua Lua mate. If it’s not working then I’d bring on Lovenkrands at half time to replace him but unless we give him a chance we’ll never know eh?

Would definitely go for 442 with Caroll and Ranger up front though.

Have never rated him. On Sunday he left young Ranger stranded up front and couldn’t retain posession. Again prefer to see him on the bench. Butt for smith the only change. Take Barton away from the left flank and play through the middle.

Right, next 5 league games to take us to the next international break are :-

    Blackpool (away)
    Plymouth (home)
    Ipswich (away)
    QPR (home)
    Bristol City (home)

What do people think? Ive left the cup game out as that should be for blooing the kids and i dont rate it as important. 12 points will put us on 28 points after 11 games and if we could keep that up we would definately be up there at the end of the season.

I’ve made a very rough calculation and I reckon we could probably lose around ten games and still get automatic promotion. As I said it’s a rough estimate anyone care to give an opinion.
I am basing it on 80 points to succeed but I must admit I havn’t checked to see exactly what has been needed for the past few seasons but I don’t think I am very far out.

That team can get us 3 points ,Pace upfront and with those 2 on the wings it would allow the fullbacks to overlap knowing they have players that can fill the gap geremi and Taylor can play the fullback position as well . Please god no nicky Butt from the start .

Bill F – Around 90 points should be enough. Last 5 winner have had 90, 81, 88, 106 and 94 points. To get runner up though, its been 83, 79, 86, 90 and 87 points.

Punk Skunk, yeah we donn’t appear to be very lucky from that aspect. I watched a Dutch league game the other day and the ref was so biased he might as well have put on a shirt and played for the team in question, it was either PSV or Ajax can’t remember which.
