Ashley Looking For New MD To Replace LLambias

The Sunday Sun is reporting today that Managing Director Derek Llambias could be  ready to  leave the club – even if Mike Ashley stays on as owner.

Ashley and Llambias – the less than dynamic duo

Apparently Llambias’s position is under review , with Ashley considering appointing an experienced football administrator to run the famous Tyneside  club’s day-to-day affairs.

Well – it’s about time!

Llambias’ background is in casinos, and since he was appointed in May of last year, to take over from the rather impressive Chris Mort, he’s been hopeless and clueless in the job  – and that’s being kind.

Troubles started as soon as he took the job, and have continued ever since.

Ashley is reported to be looking at whether a person in charge, who is experienced in the running of a football club would help both placate the angry Geordie fans, and at the same time be attractive to would-be buyers.

Wow – what a concept – but why has it taken Mike so long to realize something that was obviously needed when he took over?

This would put a more professional face on the Newcastle club, which is badly needed right now.

But reading the tea leaves, does this also mean Ashley is looking to hold onto the club longer term – like through the end of the season?

This is a move that might suggest just that, and it will be interesting to see who he appoints.

There were rumors recently that Barry Moat could be appointed, but he has no experience of running a football club, although his appointment at some level, would help with the integration and harmony in the club,  should he become  the buyer of the club eventually.

We hope this news is true, and let’s know who you think would be a good candidates for this position, assuming Derek is replaced!

Comments welcome.

Would be a great move to see him gone, but my only wory is, if Ashley stays, will things really change? We need money invested and I don’t thnk it maters who the MD is, Ashley holds the purse strings. But whoever takes total control, a chairman who is from a football background or an ex football director from elsewhere would be a step forward

Who are these experienced football administrator’s that could take charge?

Lets not fill our heads with talk of David Dein or Peter Kenyon.

I’m not sure what Freddie Fletcher is doing at the moment or even if he’s retired but he’s the only football person I can think of getting on board.

He’s never going to bring back fat Fred either before someone mentions it.

it doesn’t really matter – its a bit pointless having anyone in the position if ashley still owns the club and moat will be another disaster if he buys – we’re pretty much up the creeek on the owner/director side – luckily the players are ignoring it and getting a few wins………….but for how long

ashley needs to go and as soon as possible, it’s him and no one else who is ruining our football club.

I would take a Nile Quinn type person to come in, no real director experince, but does know all about the game. He can advise the directors and owner

About r’effin time. Worried that replacing Llambias this late in the day may mean Fat Mike in charge for the future though, please Santa don’t let that happen!

    WDFTTA

That’s pretty much my team except Ranger on the bench instead of Smith, Barton and Guthrie swap places, Vuckic alongside Barton, Baheng on up front with Lovey and Butt left somewhere in the North Pole!

Not fussed if we go out tbh but would like to see our first XI rested as much as possible in the cup.

Good – I actually loathe Lamearse much more than Ashley – I always wonder if Ashley had had the nous to handle the problems around Keegan etc directly, rather than leave it mainly to Lambasted, would things have been recoverable?
I assume the Job Description includes:
    1. Ability to produce as little information and communication as possible
    2. Ensure that any successive utterances completely contradict each other
    3. Ability to run naked across a football pitch.

at the moment i am still open to why we are were we are, & what amount of blame lies with Mike Ashley, as without him things could have been a lot worse, removing Llambias would be a step forward for me, all our problems seem to emanate through him, so i feel its a positive move, but i has to be just the first of many, we need the club run well, manager, five year plan, transfer funds, if this can be done under Ashley that’s not a problem. although a fresh start would seem to be a better option.

    Agree dave
when Ashley took over and Mort was running things everything was on the up and it looked like we could be moving in the right direction .Since the arse took over the role its been a comedy of errors culminating in relegation . If a Managing director could be found that knew how to run the club and promotion followed then would we be any worse off than under fat Freddie ? the plus point would be all the money hungry “Stars”that was brought in by FFS would be in the past and we would have a team of young hungry players eager to prove themselves . i would prefer a new owner but untill then, getting rid of Arse would at least be a positive move .

Yet again, why is everyone including the crap-loids mentioning Moat as the possible new owner?? Haven’t this American consortium been over to chat to Ashley directly due to not getting anywhere fast with Seymour Pierce? So who say it might not been them that Ashley has agreed a deal with & they’ve probably got more money than Moat has anyways!!

Then on the other hand it may well be someone who’s not been mentioned by this famous ‘Source’ who keeps leaking info out of the TOON… I think whoever takes over should find out who the ‘leak’ is & plug it up nice & tight, so no more crappy rumours get out!!!

Lambias was brought in to bear the brunt of anger towards Ashleys plans, dirty work done, goodbye, big cash pay off, another stooge in and hopefully all will be forgotten about.
Never, the club will never progress until the owner has gone as well.
Mind you, Stardust might apply, hes the only one that springs to mind that supports Mikey boy.

    three ways forward
1, replace Llambias with a dog turd = no change
2, replace Llambias with a amoeba = slow improvement could be possible.
3, replace Llambias with a professional football administrator = we might win something one day

Judging by his sycophantically supportiveness for Ashley, anyone could be forgiven for thinking that Stardust is Llambias!!
