Danny Simpson – injury weill be assessed today
On loan Danny Simpson, the 22-year-old defender. seemed to jar his ankle after 30 minutes, and was replaced by Ryan Taylor.

The Newcastle medical staff will assess the extent of the injury to the right back today.

And manager Chris Hughton talked about the injury immediately after the game:

” He just jarred his ankle and it’s one of those ones we will see how he is in the morning.”

“But the fact he came off early enough, hopefully might have stopped any further damage.”

“But we will assess that one in the morning and see how he is.”

We hope to hear more of the injury prognosis later today.

3-2? And Ranger scored the third as well (previous blog) – Ed have you ever thought about hiring a copy editor? That’s not a serious question by the way.

How biased can the refs be to the top 4? Owen scored in the 95th minute when the added time was 4 minutes. I dislike both teams but that was just unfair.

I know Owen didn’t do it for us last season, but if we could have provided hime with the service, we would still be in the PL. Look how he performed the season before, his goals kept us up. Something to do with a manager who knew how to get a winning team

simon i admit we didnt make enough chances for him but he is supposedly a striker that will score you 1 out of 2 chances which i still dont think he done for us the chances he did get i thought towards then end of last season he missed the majority still though last season we were know where near creative enough

it just pi$$es me off that man u seem to get all the luck i mean the ref played an extra 2 mins of o-t imagine if that happend to us against the mackems and they scored in one of the last kicks against us and the ref played 6 mins of o-t when he should have played 4

Always the case, the refs seem to always cave in to Ferguson’s demands, dont think it will ever change

Owen scored after 5min30 of extra-time, there was meant to be 4min of after-time, but after the 4min were announced, there was a goal and a substitution, so it’s not surprising that the extra-time continued later than expected.

I have always, always taken the mickey with chants such as “play on….till United win” etc but this has made them all so much more relevant. Total and utter cheating to aid the “United ” cause. The “Theatre of Dreams!” must be ecstatic. Bitter? Moi?

Fair point toonsy but it just sticks in the throat that ExEMO can do the business for manure but couldnt hit cows arse with a banjo when ‘playing’ for us
