As we mentioned earlier today, the battle between Keegan and Ashley at the ongoing PL arbitration hearing, is likely to heat up this week.
Mike Ashley and daughter – we just scored!
In Newcastle’s corner is well known football lawyer Graham Shear, who is reported to be representing the club at the arbitration hearing.
All parties involved in the hearing signed confidentiality clauses which have ensured that it has proceeded so far in secrecy, but that seems to have been breached today with news that Keegan may release some damming emails to Ashley’s case.
Shear has worked for Newcastle a few times before, and has defended Kieron Dyer against various ridiculous tabloid allegations.
By the way Kieron came on as a sub in the second half yesterday for West Ham in their 3-2 loss to Liverpool, and looked lively.
But since he joined the Hammers over two years ago, Dyer has been injured most of the time and has hardly played for the London club – 11 times to be exact.
Lawyer Shear also represented Ashley Cole in the famous tapping up allegations which preceded his move from Arsenal to Chelsea three years ago.
We expect some decision in the arbitration case to be reached soon, maybe this week.
And if Kevin Keegan wins his case, it will be a blow to Newcastle’s still rather shaky financial position and maybe to the sale of the club too.
But the good news is that it will end the uncertainty which has existed around this issue for 12 months.
