Tomorrow night’s Carling Cup tie at Peterborough is a good time to give another run-out to some of our up and coming youngsters.
Nile Ranger – better with every game
It’s important to give some of the regulars a rest so they can be ready for the next important league game, on Saturday at Ipswich Town – KO 5:30pm.
Tim Krul should get another start, and we’d also like to see Tamas Kadar get a run out, and we fully expect new loan signing Zurab Khizanishvili, from Blackburn, to be given his debut for the club.
But the combination most Newcastle fans would love to see is a Carroll Ranger strike force up front.
These two were together over the last 30 minutes on Saturday, and since both are tall, good in the air, and very physical, they will be a handful for most defenses this season.
Carroll looks in good form and has scored two good goals in the last two games, and almost got a great goal right at the end against Plymouth, when he turned beautifully, and smashed the ball against the cross-bar.
And Nile ha s played in all but one of Newcastle’s games this season, starting 3 and coming on as a sub in another 5 games. So surely that youthful strike partnership is worth a try tomorrow night.
We’d also like to see 17 year-old Slovenian midfielder Haris Vuckic get his first start for the side.
Even with a weakened side tomorrow night, Newcastle will still hope to progress into the next round, and maybe get a plum tie with a top Premier league side at home.
Chelsea or Manchester United would be good, you know – a team we could beat on the night. 😀
Note – As our readers point out – Zurab Khizanishvili is already cup-tied with Blackburn and cannot play.
