Newcastle Close To Harewood Loan Signing

Look for Newcastle to announce  in the next day or two they are signing Aston Villa striker Marlon Harewood on a three-month loan.

Marlon Harewood – 3 month loan to Newcastle?
Newcastle seem to have been after a few strikers and our est choice would have probably been Senegal striker Kamara from Fulham, who apparently was more than willing to come to Tyneside, but Fulham need him – at least while they are still in Europe.

And the news is the Tyneside club may renew their interest in January with this player.

Newcastle were also linked with younger players 21 year-old James Vaughan of Everton, who signed a loan deal with Derby County last week, and also previous Newcastle  target 19 year old Sam Vokes – now at Wolves.

But we already have young strikers Carroll and Ranger, who have both looked very good in the last two games, and bringing in another young striker, doesn’t seems to make much sense.

30 year-old Harewood has started just one Premier League game for Villa since his £4M move from West Ham in 2007, and he will become a short term replacement for Shola Ameobi who is sidelined with a stress fracture of a foot.

We expect Harweood to be announced before the Carling Cup tie at Peterborough on Tuesday night.

    I wld have loved Kamara but half a cake is better than none.
    Carroll(9) – Ranger(10)
    Does that ring a bell with;
    Shearer(9) – Ferdinard(10)

    Geordie with a cockney leading the line. It brings happier times but what makes it sweeter we have made these ones we dont need to break world signings for them

    I like the look of Ranger and Carroll. The game changed completely when Ranger and Guthrie came on. I hope Harewood is only cover and won’t stop these 2 getting a regular run as I think we may just have something there.

    I like the idea of Ranger / Carroll partnership, but I don’t think it’s the solution to our striking problems. I would certainly play them in the cup games, as I feel this season they will be a pointless distraction, and I have to concede that minutes on the pitch is very important for this pair. I still feel we need some experience up front, somebody to work with one or both of these guys at the same time to help them develop.

    Think Harewood would be a good signing for us , not a world beater by any strech of the imagination but will do a good job for us in the championship

    He will do, once we have Guiterez and Lovencrands back fully fit we will be more than a handful for the teams in the championship.

    harewood could do a job like. Good, Strong and not the slowest of players on the ball who is proven at championship level, just what we need imo.
