Hughton Sticks With Kids – No Interest In Campbell

Chris Hughton will not say it, but he would have been disappointed at the displays of a lot of our youngsters on Tuesday night as Newcastle went out of the Carling Cup with a whimper.

Chris Hughton – will stick with Newcastle youngsters

Chris was trying to rally the troops yesterday at the Benton Training grounds, and is determined not to give up on the young players at the club – despite their poor showing on Tuesday night.

“No one really excelled, to be honest, but we’re definitely not going to be giving up on them,”

“They’ve got a part to play like the rest of the squad.”

And the surprising news yesterday that Sol Campbell has quit Notts County after just one game, at least alerted Newcastle fans.

But since we tried to sign Sol in the summer, the club has moved on and Chris doesn’t seem  too interested in signing the player, who apparently cannot sign for any club until Christmas at the earliest in any case.

Chris said today:

“Obviously, I know Sol and in our quest to bring in a center-half he was one that we did talk to and I was interested in,” he said.

“But things have moved on since then and our targets have changed. I understand that Sol can’t sign for anyone until Christmas anyway, so it is not something we’ll be looking at.”

It will be interesting to see what the club will do in January, when our loan signings are due to return to their clubs.

well, if the club has been sold, i doubt we’ll go for campbell.

if Ebenezer Ashley is still pulling hughton’s puppet strings as well as the purse ones, i can see us offering old man Sol a deal.

I love CH and wanted him to become Manager but He cant attract good players and I know the fans can never give him time so I will go with Big Al and CH as assistant.

Going for Campbell again would be a silly move.

After all, he did go to Notts County because he wanted to be part of their revolution and in the process, seemingly turned Newcasetle United down. Nothing to do with £40k pw though!

I think we’ve had quite enough carpetbaggers over the years and this is a good time to stop!

I’m the first to say I wanted the youngsters to be given a chance, but not wholesale like Tuesday night.

The likes of Krul, Ranger and Carroll with possibly Kadar and Lua Lua would have been plenty, but adding Tavernier, Donaldson et al in to the mix in one go was carnage.

Poor old Krul probably won’t get another chance now for ages. Did Butt play @ Peterborough ?

This whole Ashley/Hughton thing is just so mediocre and boring and the whole club is drifting into oblivion.
Hughton is so bland and is obviously a yes man who never gives a straight answer in interview and sings from the club song sheet trying to convince us that everything is fine and dandy whilst we know its the opposite.
I wish for once he would speak out openly and then i would have more respect for him but all this bollocks about this group of lads this and this group of lads that just gets on my tits.

    We obviously need more players.

Tue night proved what team we will have to put out if we get injuries.

Judging by the performance we could yet be in a relegation battle if we have the same amount of injuries as the last few seasons.

They should let Campbell train with us until he finds a new club in Jan or whenever. He needs to keep his fitness up and no doubt some of the young’ns would benefit from training with him. Win win.
