Coloccini Back Tomorrow But Simpson Still Doubtful

1:21 pm, Friday, September 25th, 2009 by Ed Harrison · 33 Comments

Both Coloccini and Nicky Butt are in the squad for tomorrow’ game at Ipswich.

Fabricio Coloccini – back in side tomorrow
Rumors suggest he may even comb his hair before game

Chris Hughton talked about the players back in the squad today:

”Coloccini is back into the squad, as are Nicky Butt and Jose Enrique.” “Nicky has had a slight problem, and in typically Nicky fashion has been working through it.”

“Danny Simpson, even though we are going to give it to the last minute, is still a big doubt.” “Tamas Kadar will be out, and Andy Carroll comes back in.”

“Joey Barton is out. He has a slight problem with his foot.” “It is something he has been carrying in the last two games, and we just felt he needed that little period of rest.”

If Danny doesn’t make it, we wonder if Chris would consider playing Zurab Khizanishvili in his place.

Zurab can play at full back as well as center-back.

The obvious choice would be Ryan Taylor of course,  but we have to think that Khizanishvili is good enough to get a starting place in the back four at Newcastle.

At the very least he needs to be given his chance early.

But we should have a strong defense out tomorrow, and Newcastle need a clean sheet tomorrow night.

That will go a long long way to allowing the lads to get the win we desperately need – which is the only result good enough tomorrow night.

Howay The Lads!!

Comments welcome.

    Harper

    Khisi… Taylor Colo Enrique

    R.Taylor Nolan Smith Lovenkrands

    Carroll Harewood

Cant wait until Gutierrez is fit again. The most exciting but frustrating player, but can get us out of it when we have our backs to the wall with his counter attacking ability with lovenkrands.

Agree robby bobson about jonas , tho his final ball is so poor he prob is our best attacking option

Why we never play Geremi at right back is beyond me, clearly his best position. Thats where he was at his best for Real madrid and Chelsea and regularly plays for Cameroon in the position. its no coincidence that he’s been standard for us as he’s playing largely as a winger.
He was even nominated for European player of the year while playing for Real guess what position… yep Right back.

His passing isnt the best and he’s not as fast as he used to be but he’s still strong and good at tackling and can put in a good cross… lets face it he’s a lot more solid than R Taylor.
If Geremi had been at another premiership club and we’d got him on loan i’d be a lot happier than getting Khizanishvili.

Im not saying he’s amazing and im not about to start up a fan club but he’s the best right back we’ve got at the club FACT

Jonas was making a lot of assists this season.

RooneyToons, Geremi the bast right back at the club, pull the other one mate….He is a shocking defender! He was inept at Chelsea as a full back and can not fill that position comfortably. He is and always will be a utility player, if he was so good, he would start there. I admit that he is not as bad as everyone makes out, but his position is right midfield.

Geremi was one of our best players against Plymouth and on that basis probably deserves a start. He gave us a bit more quality out wide and although he’s not going to be the most mobile player he can probably get away with it in this division.

jokerkinnear – which ssn are you watching, the broon ale version?

  • 18 Ross // Sep 25, 2009 at 3:35 PM

Good to see Jonas back in training like, we could do with him bigtime at the moment. Also nice to see Harewood seemingly fitting in relatively well, and that he’s been given 10 as opposed to the no.9!

Those pic’s make a footballers life look canny hard like. Have a laugh monday to friday with a kick about on saturday, 30/40/50k in your hand for doing so, cant be bad.

RE Keegan: The LMA have released a short statement but there was no confirmation of any financial agreement. Papers claimed the amount could rise to a tag that would have a massive financial impact on the club but obviously they’re going to say that. So basically, we’ve found out nothing.

    Reserved judgment until when?

  • 21 Bigbadbob // Sep 25, 2009 at 3:40 PM

Its definitely becoming in vogue this withholding of information

  • 22 Bigbadbob // Sep 25, 2009 at 3:47 PM

Hello, anyone out there to explain this to thick buggers like me?

  • 23 lesh // Sep 25, 2009 at 3:48 PM

GG, Batty… the noticeable and good thing about the training pics is that the lads have smiles on their faces and seem to be enjoying it.

    That augers well for tomorrow.
