Newcastle Search For New Players Is Not Over

Good news yesterday that Marlon Harewood is now on loan at Newcastle for  3 months.

Marlon Harewood – first day of training today on Tyneside

And with Harewood being injured so far this season, there is a clause in the contract that he will immediately return to Villa if he gets injured again.

Seems like the club is finally learning from their disastrous loan of Nacho Gonzalez last season, when the Uruguayan played a short two sub appearances in September,  but was injured for the whole season – some value for money that!

But Hughton has also said he will continue to scour the loan market, despite adding a defender and a striker over the last two weeks.

We now have 3 players on loan at the club – Danny Simpson, Zurab Khizanishvili and Marlon Harewood, and there is no real limit on the number  of loan players we can bring in this season.

The next area that Chris will be looking to strengthen is on the wings, with news in the Journal that Hughton is looking to bring in a winger as well as another striker before the January transfer window.

“We’re still looking for players,” “The priorities were centre-half and center-forward but we would look at other areas too.”

“It’s good for us to add numbers. There were two areas that were priorities and we’ve managed to bring in players in both those areas.”

Chris has brought in 4 good players with the 3 loan signings and Peter Lovenkrands, but he has hardly been well supported by the owner.

And we have to believe that if  Barry Moat buys the club soon and Shearer comes in as manager, that new loan signings immediately, and new players in January will be a priority to strengthen the squad for the promotion push.

Hope so anyway.

    Hughton wont be allowed to bring any more players in, he is lucky to have twisted the fat gets arm for what hes got.

    Great!! We’ve signed a boneheaded battering ram…..just what’s needed! Should be some sore defenders lying around groaning in the opponents’ box now – and chances aplenty for our forwards……
    And this is before Andy “elbows” Carroll steams in!

    on the topic of loan signings, gareth bale would give us the balance we need on the left hand side, allowing jonas when fit, to stay on the right.

    I think he will be a BIG asset for us…and an excellent addition to a strike force that is a bit toothless and patchy.

    If he bangs in some goals I see him staying on a perm deal(If Ashley has Fked off by January-I doubt it though).

    Isn’t Bale a bit fragile?

    @ sirjasontoon

    Isn’t Bale a bit fragile?

    possibly could be m8, but trying to think of alternatives who might be available, especially left sided players, i guess it would be better than shoving barton or guthrie out there?

    C`mon Ed. !
    Harewood = a battering ram !
    Moat = a day late and a dollar short.
    Shearer= one out of eight.
    Yeah we know you are a loyal Georgie and a great fan, but a little perspective please.
    Why do you think Shearer is not at the helm ?
    Even Ashley can figure one out of eight + how many millions does he want ?
    That`s why Hughton`s got the job.
    The one thing he has`nt figured is that this club will drift like a ship without a rudder until he hires both a knowledgeable general manager and a team manager who he can work with to rebuild the club .
