Magpies Completely Focused On Win At Ipswich

Steven Taylor has said today that even jt usafter the game Tuesday night at Peterborough the Newcastle players were focusing on the Ipswich game this afternoon.

Steven Taylor – scoring last week against Plymouth

The local Newcastle defender told the Evening Chronicle today:

“Even before we left the ground at Peterborough on Tuesday night we were talking about Ipswich.”

“It is vital we get back on track and return to winning ways.” “We had a young side out at Peterborough, and I know how each of them feels.”

“This season was always going to be about a promotion campaign and, while you do not want to lose any game, we are hell-bent on getting back up this season – that is the main thing.”

Taylor paired alongside Ben Tozer on Tuesday, with Tamas Kadar out with a groin strain, but will be joined by Fabricio Coloccini this afternoon, so we should be almost at full strength in defense, and a clean sheet would be so welcome.

Taylor added:

“When you play alongside young players part of your job is to nurture them through.” “It is tough making your debut and when I made mine I had a lot of experienced players around me.”

“That helped me, so you have to try to do the same.” “We know we are going to have to rely on some of them again this season.”

Newcastle are facing an Ipswich side that have made a surprisingly poor start to the season, and are second bottom right now.

However we expect them to improve once Roy Keane gets them sorted out – we just hope today will come too early for the Tractor Boys.

Taylor continued:

“You have to make a statement – we are focused on beating Ipswich.” “However, we are also determined to make sure we stay in that top two.”

“If we can start building up a lead at the top we know every game we chalk off we are a step closer to achieving our aim.”
“Getting back to playing Premier League football is the main aim for us.”

A win is a win, and 3 more points towards our promotion effort , and that’s what we need at the end of the game tonight!

So… will it be an adventurous (sarcasm) 4-5-1 formation again? 😉

I have a bad gut feeling about this match, the same feeling i had before the Blackpool game!

Me Too…not expecting a goal fest either….A dull win would be fine though-we seem pretty good at them 🙂

SJT – I just think that can be overly negative. We have nowt to fear if we go and play our own game rather than playing safe hoping to snatch a goal. Its worked so far, but luck runs out eventually. With 2 strikers it would put the fear of god into most defences in this league.

Aye Toonsey I’m with you. These teams are scared of us until our 4-5-1 gives them time and space. The BBC said when they scored their second goal they’d had 63% of the play. We tried to give the game away against the bottom club. Lets get after them and give them a fright. Start with our best pair – the young uns!

im not too convinced by this game either, got a feeling we could struggle today. agree with toonsy that we should def play 2 strikers and take it to them. if we play with one striker were just letting them come at us. we should be able to dominate these teams and not be scared of getting beat.
