More Loan Signings On The Way At Newcastle

Newcastle United have signed Marlon Harewood and Zurab Khizanishvili in the last week, but if manager Chris Hughton has his way the loan signings will not stop there.

Marlon Harewood – we’re number one – training at Newcastle yesterday

Chris has pursued some good players, including Manchester United’s 20 year-old Craig Cathcart (now on loan at Watford for 3 months), and midfielder Darron Gibson.

But now that he has finally landed Marlon and Zurab, Chris will consider some new targets.

Hughton admits he needs new players, but right now he also admits nothing is close:

“There’s nothing close, but if we were to pick up injuries we’d be short, so we know we could do with more bodies,”

“With that in mind we probably need another two players.””We are looking and will continue looking.”

“We do have a group of young lads who have been training with the squad, some since last season, some since pre-season.”

“We feel we can develop this squad and I am quite sure they will get further opportunities this season.”

For those of you who have a membership to nufcTV, make sure you watch the interview with Marlon Harewood that was taped yesterday.

Marlon comes across so well, and seems even a gentle giant, but appears genuinely keen to do well on Tyneside, and that comes across loud and clear in the interview.

We think that the big man could be very good for us in the Championship – since he has scored many goals there before.

He played for Paul Hart’s Nottingham Forest from 1996-2003, and scored 55 goals in 196 appearances, and then helped West Ham to get promoted back to the Premier League in 2004-2005, when he scored 23 goals in all competitions that season.

He could turn out to be an inspired loan signing fror  us this season – we hope so anyway. 😀

If Chris manages to bring in 2 more young players, one of them being a winger, you really cannot fault what he’s been able to do with regards to “emergency” loan signings-or just loan signings in general for that matter. Simpson, Harewood, Khizan, Loven, and 2 others and i’d be saying very well done, given the circumstances.

Well, you cant fault his logic. We DO need more players – desperately, in fact!!! Yes, the squad is far to thin, but who created that?? Yep Mr Ashley strikes again!!

MA is the only one who can do anything about it, but, like every other window of oportunity, its gone begging. The sooner he is removed from the club, the better it will be.

Isn’t their limitations imposed on the amount of loan signings we can have in a team at any one time?

We need to get our left flank padded out a little, if Enrique gets injured (which is an accident waiting to happen), we’ve got nobody to cover which means we either play 3 at the back (sod that for a game of toy soldiers) or play somebody out of position.

Bale or Baird or both as Baird can play left back and Bale on left wing.

Or we could just get Bale as he can play at LB & LW, then get a more creative midfielder in. Or we could try a loan to buy deals for Skjelbred & Huseklepp and we are sorted! And still get Bale on loan though 🙂 But that won’t happen, at least until we are taken over.

I’d get Bale in on loan like. Kind of taking care of 2 problems at once. After that, either a creative mid, or a winger with a decent cross. Any ideas?

The only answer to our problems is Bale, Skjelbred and Huseklepp. Left Back, Creative Midfielder and Winger.

Whatever happened to the loanees we were meant to be getting from Spurs when the stole Bassong from us?

I guess that was just more BS from MA… 🙁
