Zurab Khizanishvili Could Make Newcastle Debut Tonight

2:00 pm, Saturday, September 26th, 2009 by Ed Harrison · 75 Comments

If Danny Simpson fails a late fitness test today then Zurab Khizanishvili could make his debut for the Newcastle club at right back.

Zurab Khizanishvili nmnmnmn

Zurab Khizanishvili - could make debut tonight

Chris Hughton told the Evening Chronicle today:

“Zurab is ready to come in and I have no problems about him doing a job tonight.” “He can operate at centre-back or right-back and that gives us an option.”

“He’s come in to play games and there will be opportunities for him because there are many games coming up.”

Khizanishvili is with Newcastle until January 1st from Blackburn,  when his three-month loan spell ends along with that of fellow new loan signing Marlon Harewood, from Aston Villa.

Marlon will likely start on the bench tonight but us also expected to make his debut at some time  in tonight’s game.

And Hughton. as we reported earlier today is also looking at some additional players to bring in, as he added:

“The area we needed to look at was centre-back and centre-forward and we’ve done that.”

“We will assess things as we go along.”  “But you don’t rule anything out.”

And Newcastle can still do well if we cna get 3 straight wins before the next International break starts after our home game with Bristol City next Saturday.

Chris continued:

“We broke down the season into segments. It’s no good looking at it all as one big period of games.”

“After the next three games we have an international break, and if we can get to the end of each segment with the points tally we think is achievable, we’ll do OK.”

We play QPR on Wednesday evening at home, so a win today could set us up for a good string of wins. Maybe we can be on 28 points by next Saturday evening?

That woulds be fantastic, but it’s one game at a time starting tonight at Ipswich.

Comments welcome.

I’m just hoping Ranger doesn’t get frozen out once everyone is back from injury, I would rather have Ranger than Carroll in my team anyday of the week, as if you have been to the games this season you’ll know why. I hope Hughton will stop playing that dreaded 4-5-1 now that we have an extra striker and hopefully revert into a 4-4-2. :)

  • 2 sirjasontoon // Sep 26, 2009 at 2:23 PM

I want to see us batter some teams…ATTACK-ATTACK-ATTACK!!

    Prediction 1-1 today….I want a win though!

    If we go 5-4-1
    Defeat.

  • 3 Graeme // Sep 26, 2009 at 2:24 PM

You can only win games by scoring goals. Strikers score goals. Lets have 2 on the pitch at all times, if not 3!!!

We played some great games with a 4-3-3- formation last time round. Its always been said that the best form of defence, is attack – so letss have plenty of it!!!!

Agreed but I wouldn’t even have Butt on me bench, I’d release him into the Australian outback so he’s never seen again plus he’ll burn easily haha :)

  • 6 Where did the good times go // Sep 26, 2009 at 2:34 PM

I am also desperate for a ‘display’ and some goals, but credit to Chris for getting a defence that was devoid of confidence playing with some.

The formation has played a part in that and with confidence growing and new players coming in, plus injuries coming back i wouldnt be at all surprised if we play 4-4-2 or even 4-3-3 at times.

But let Chris get on with the great job hes doing for now.

  • 7 Charlietoon // Sep 26, 2009 at 2:43 PM

I want to see our wingers storming up the field and there being some strikers actually in the box to convert the chances.

i hate to comment but harper is a terrible goal keeper.last season hope we get someone reliable in goal

  • 14 Davey Falcus // Sep 26, 2009 at 3:14 PM

Danny Simpson is definately out for todays game. I saw him out in town last night with Danny Guthrie when I was out with the lads. Last I saw of them it was 5 in the morning and they were looking for For Your Eyes Only haha!

inzogbia sets bramble up to score against chelsea

  • 18 RooneyToons // Sep 26, 2009 at 3:20 PM

Harpers quality… especially since he’s had a proper run.

Brambles just put Wigan 1-0 up from a N’Zogbia corner…cant wait to play them next season

  • 19 ganiyu // Sep 26, 2009 at 3:21 PM

batty imagine if shy given were to be in goal last season ,it would be a different story.

  • 20 RooneyToons // Sep 26, 2009 at 3:22 PM

Here’s a question… would you take Bramble back in our current state? i would you know

  • 21 AndyNUFC // Sep 26, 2009 at 3:25 PM

I would never take Bramble back.

That’s not too much pride or a doubt of his ability, it’s because he’s a huge confidence player, and we have maybe the worst fans ever for a player’s confidence.

SBR saw enough in him to know he’s a good player.

  • 22 ganiyu // Sep 26, 2009 at 3:26 PM

    bramble is terrible any day.

  • 23 AndyNUFC // Sep 26, 2009 at 3:26 PM

And Ganiyu, it’s terribly obvious you comment to wind people up, and the fact you put on a terrible act to ‘cover it up’ so to speak, just makes it even more pathetic. On a saturday, do you really, really, have nothing more productive to do with your time?

  • 24 RooneyToons // Sep 26, 2009 at 3:30 PM

    AndyNUFC,

Your probably right, apparently he’s been playing well but the meer sight of StJames and he’d trip over his shoelaces

  • 25 AndyNUFC // Sep 26, 2009 at 3:36 PM

Plus he probably still is prone to an error here and there.

Plus now being in the league we are, I doubt our wage cap would bloody get him in!

My god, we can’t even get Titus Bramble in. Relegation has finally now REALLY sunk in.

Ganiyu i’ve been on this blog for a fair amount of time and know fine well every time you post something it’s clearly to get a reaction. Sort your life out.

On top of that, Harper should in line for England. Foster and Carson have nothing on him.

  • 34 Bigbadbob // Sep 26, 2009 at 3:46 PM

Just watching Dwight Yorke on the adverts about an exclusive hes doing for the NOTW about his dolly birds, reminds me of a quote by Peter Crouch who after being asked what he would have been if not a pro footballer answered ” A VIRGIN”

  • 35 RooneyToons // Sep 26, 2009 at 3:46 PM

HA HA Ouch, that hurts that really really hurts

He’d probably turn us down anyway like an Ex Bird that you dumped for being too fat who’s now lost some weight and is going out with a male model. not that he’d be that fit its Wigan afterall.

  • 36 summerof69 // Sep 26, 2009 at 3:48 PM

apologise i should have payed more attention and realised geremi was on the bench

  • 37 AndyNUFC // Sep 26, 2009 at 3:53 PM

That quote by Crouch was absolutely legend and made me like him instantly, haha, what an answer.

On the reverse side, the Dwight Yorke ad makes me feel physically sick, not only because of his face, but the fact he’s quite prepared to sell himself, his personal life, and other people’s for money to a paper for everyone to read.

He may as well have said “i’ll grass on SAF, tell you about my big slag of a girlfriend jordan who I knocked up and couldn’t give a monkeys, and show off everything I did because of the money football threw at me”.

The day he dies I really won’t be affected at all.

  • 38 Mag_Laad // Sep 26, 2009 at 3:55 PM

Aslong as Butt doesn’t play this game everything will go to plan, if he makes an appearance it will be Blackpool all over again. After he badly f***** up against Blackpool I would just release him.

  • 39 Mag_Laad // Sep 26, 2009 at 3:57 PM

Jordan is the definition of SLLUUUUTTT anyway so meh! Its ok to sell stories about some people Jordan being one of them.

  • 40 Toon_Factor // Sep 26, 2009 at 3:59 PM

Once again that stupid fcuker ganiyu looking for attention..!

  • 41 Big Dave // Sep 26, 2009 at 3:59 PM

    T-F hows you

  • 43 AndyNUFC // Sep 26, 2009 at 4:01 PM

She’s a slut, I hate her and equally won’t care when she dies. I feel sorry about her rape thing (if it’s true) but she’s more than made up for the sympathy by being an idiot who only cares about making sure people are looking at her as much as possible, any means necessary.

Still though Yorke is just a horrible person.

  • 44 Toon_Factor // Sep 26, 2009 at 4:03 PM

  • 50 toonsy // Sep 26, 2009 at 4:39 PM

Palace are doing us a favour, if it stays like that then we need to do our bit and win!

If we can our next 2 games are at home to QPR and Bristol City and id’ be expecting 6 points, no less, from them games. Top that with a win tonight and we’d have played 11 and got 28 points, and be sitting top of the league going into the internationals.

  • 51 toonsy // Sep 26, 2009 at 4:40 PM

Cardiff are going to be there or thereabouts come the end of the season so its nice to see them dropping points aswell.
