Coloccini Likely To Miss QPR Game

It looks like Argentine Fabriocio Coloccini will miss his first league game of the season on Wednesday night against QPR.

Coloccini – will miss QPR game

Chris Hughton was forced to take off the £10M defender as well as the in-form Ryan Taylor during the 4-0 demolition of Ipswich on Saturday.

And there is also a chance that right-back Danny Simpson may still not be fit, as the right-back is still not 100% fit, after suffering an ankle injury against Plymouth Argyle nine days ago.

If Danny had been fit then Khizanishvili could have moved to center-back and Danny could have come in at right back.

And Argentine winger Jonas Gutierrez, who was training last week, could be fit for Wednesday night’s game.

Hughton told the Evening Chronicle today:

“As ever we will be assessing everybody as we go along.”

“Ryan has been suffering with a little tightness in his calf and is a doubt. But Fabricio looks the more doubtful of the two and we are probably more hopeful on Ryan.”

“Danny Simpson has got a chance but he is again touch and go. And providing Jonas gets through the next few days without any problems, he could also be back against QPR.”

And of course Coloccini and Jonas have both been named by Diego Maradona for the crunch World Cup qualifiers against Peru and Uruguay three days later.

RyanToon – He may be a clown but he’s our clown. In this division he is more than good enough, and our defence is probably the strongest there is. Can’t understand why certain players get so much stick, they may have been poor in the Prem but this is a diferent standard. And I was amazed at the abuse Butt got on here after the game, he misplaced one or two passes in the first half but apart from that was solid and had a good game.

Because you are more than likely a tool. Your opinions are that of a tool. You have tool like behaviour. You are a bag of tools. Not just today’s post, but most of your posts all of the time. I am also not keen on the name Ryan.

@Macas35 Its due to reason that he was way POOR in prem league and its hard to still accept him. I can understand what you said , he is better in championship. But still he is not putting kind of effort he should. Look at other guys like this new signing ZURAB, his first game and he has atleast showed us that he came here to play and give his 100%. While Colo never looked like he give 100% for team.

But on other note I am never harsh to any player but he and Butt are one of those whom I can never forgive. Other reason might be we expect more from them. They should also realize this. Just think what we paid for Colo and what we are getting thats frustrating.

RyanToon – In this division yes, look at the likes of the Ipswich defence and then compare them to Coloccini. He made a slip in the game where Smith got sent off but i think he’s done OK overall.

Yeah Ryan you do come off a little like a tool 🙂

I for one was not expecting this many clean sheets this early in the season and I think we should give credit where credit is due. He was not suited to the premiership but a season in the coke league may sharpen his skills and prepare him better for when we get back up. He was a new guy playing in a team that lacked any drive. It was not so long ago that smith was playing like crap. Now I am glad we have him

We just won 4-0 away to Ipswich and have kept so many clean sheets. I find it a bit odd how many people are being negative. Ryan was being negative about Enrique on an other thread. It was enough for me to oust him as a tool bag. I make absolutely no apologies as he has abused so many people on here over the last 12 months.

Collo is fine by me,he would get in most fizzy pop 1st teams and has looked much better this season and as he grows in confidence he will only get better.

He is part of our defensive unit that seems pretty tight so far this season…so credit where credit is due.

The back four imo need to work as a unit and have support from mf, this seems to be happening this season so far and long may it last.

S Tayloy, Colo and Enrique have all had their critics but hats off to them now with a good defensive record.

surely the ONLY thing we should be thinking about is promotion. and so the question to be asked is, is Colocini helping us get promoted ? and the answer is yes. 4 goals conceded all season. strong performances, streets ahead of the championship strikers, comfortable on the ball. this is not the player we saw last year and i for one slated him last year, but that doesnt matter any more. it doesnt even matter if he is still not premier league standard because we are not there. the fact is we have a squad full of players this season who are probably by premier league standards poor, but in this division are a notch above the rest. we are doing well so lets get behind the lads this season !

OMG Colo was poor last year, no denying that but who the hell was’nt, the amount of turmiol we saw last year was unbelievable. Its hard enough for foriegners to settle in a new league, city and surroundings in a well run club let alone our shambolic affair. This year he as well as many others are laying their body on the line there were a number of times late in the Cardiff game when Colo was just throwing his self at the ball to block a shot. We have the best defence in the league and will be in better shape IF we return to the PL.

SOME PEOPLE JUST ARNT EVER HAPPY

WAldo @24, you are so right – we’re to of the pile, lost one game, have a happy squad and a manager who’s done a remarkable job in very difficult circumstances.

Yes, Ashley’s made some daft decisions in the past but let’s not forget, that if it weren’t for him subsidising the club of late, the likelihood is there’d be no club!

I’m not apologising for MA and do feel it’s right he goes but in the meantime, isn’t it about time that all the negative-heads woke up and get behind the players who, from what I saw on Saturday (albeit on TV), played their hearts out for the club. I include in that Enrique, Collo, Smith, Butt and add that they’re playing for Newcastle United, their own pride and the magnificent suport that follows them.

The travelling fans are terrific and its such a shame that some of ’em would decide to have a somewhat crude go at Mike Ashley and on TV too.

Perhaps they are the guys that should be the focus of the critics as unlike the players, they are letting the club down.

For goodness sake, let’s not revert whinging – it could be worse

I believe in Colo thats why I wtd him to be signed before. Colo has his weaknesses like any defender. He can win a ball in the air but he can read the game and good on that ball thats where he completes S.Taylor. You cant have to sweepers in one team.
    Pique and Puyol
    Ferdinard and Vidic
    Cavarol and Terry
    King and Bassong etc
    Colocinni and S.Taylor
I wld love to stay with him even when we go back to EPL he wld have learnt his trade.

Lesh, well said sir. The reality is that in this league we look very strong. Last season was tough for everyone involved, and the players are included in that. They had numerous managers and none of them, or the powers that be, bought in the right players to keep us in the league. For now we can only be looking to get promoted and then hope that a cash injection will allow us to stay in the Prem. But make no mistake we mustn’t go up and expect us to do anything but work hard to stay in the top division. It’s a tough league as we are seeing this season. Credit to CH and all the players this season for banding together and getting on with the job. I for one am loving watching them play at the moment, there is a real team spirit which we have not had since Big Al retired.

I agree SuperShearer, I think we have great team spirit at the minute. Quite a few of them are coming out now saying how together they are which is what has lacked for a few years now. And I thought the decision to give Butt the captainancy back was wrong, Smith has been a tremendous Captain this season. On saturday he threw himself into tackles from the off to set the standard and hes been our best player by far this season. Might lack the skill but he sure makes up for it in sheer effort.
