When Kevin Nolan was signed from Bolton Wanderers last January, most Newcastle fans thought this player was made to measure for Newcastle.
Kevin Nolan – after scoring his 3rd goal Saturday
That was borne out in his very first game as he took over the team talk in the player huddle, and looked a leader through and through. 😀
But like most of our players he struggled earlier in the year and could not help Newcastle avoid the drop in England’s second division, not called the Coca Cola Championship.
Fast forward to this season and Kevin is one of the players who are making Newcastle fans proud again, after the shame of relegation, in what has been a phenomenal start to the league this season with 7 wins in the first 9 games.
Kevin Nolan now has 6 goals for the Magpies this season, and a wonderful hat-trick on Saturday was just too good for a woeful Ipswich side.
And this morning the Liverpudlian has revealed how a pre-match talk with his three-year-old daughter Jasmine, helped inspire him to his first hat-trick in professional football.
The 27-year-old certainly looked delighted after his 3rd goal on 50 minutes (shown above), as he carried the match ball to the touch-line – in what was his first hat-trick since he was a schoolboy.
He dedicated his hat-trick to his daughter who the Journal reports is already proving to be a motivational speaker. 😀
Kevin told the Newcastle Journal today:
“It’s the first time I have had the match ball in my professional career,”
“The last time I scored a hat-trick was in a school final when I was 15. I didn’t get the match ball then but I’ve still got the shirt.”
“I’ve scored a few braces in my time, but when the third one went in it was like, ‘it’s happened!’.”
“I’ve got the ball for my daughter Jasmine. She always says before I leave the house, ‘go get a big goal daddy.’ I am absolutely delighted.”
Looks like daughters of Newcastle players are playing a big part in the goals right now , with Andy Carroll recently scoring a couple for his new baby daughter, Emily Rose.
Long may it continue – we love it!
